I looked around and didn't see a match to this. What would be a good mixture ratio for the 50/50 plus casing tech with this product. Does the peat moss effect the PH or is it just the lime? This product seems ideal for mushrooms and I finally bought a bag of it to give it a try. Per Ryche Hawk's 50/50 (Plus) Casing Tech he recommends 4% agricultural hydrated lime and 15% crushed oyster shell by volume. In a more recent update he recommends purchasing calcium carbonate such as the product above (but not specifically this product.)
Because he suggests using this instead of hydrated lime which was only 4% of the volume yet consists of 86% of the product so I hope my concerns make some sense. I would like to suggest having this recipe readily available since even a mod agrees this is a good product. I see that it is available at Wal-Mart and other large stores and is relatively inexpensive.

Could you ask your question more specifically? Are you wondering how much of this to use instead of a comparable amount of oyster shell?

Well I guess that and I was confused as to whether or not it would replace the lime. Basically was asking what would be an appropriate amount to add in replacement for the 50/50 tech.

Still looking for help on a formula for supplementing this in casing. I know I won't be the only one using this since it is quite easily available

The lime referenced above is made from dolomite lime. It's not suitable due to high magnesium content. I'd suggest hydrated lime. I use 1 teaspoon of hydrated lime for each cup of peat moss. RR

Would this throw off the formula or cause problems having that type of lime or is it just that you need the additional supplement of hydrated lime?

How do you know its dolomite lime? Only thing I could find in shops around me where pennington fast acting lime which has 6% magnesium or this super sweet which sounds like I need to return this now also.
