Possible cobweb mold??
    #555776 - 02/18/02 10:19 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

I am very disappointed to discover that my first 2 cakes have what I strongly believe is cobweb mold. It looks just like the mycelium...except for the fact that in certain places on the cake there are some protrusions like little hairs or something. Are there any good clear pictures of cobweb mold on cakes that I can look at and compare?

How is it treated? Should the cakes be trashed?
And if it's treatable, will the treatment slow down or even stop growth of the mycelium/mushrooms?

Okay I just saw a picture of full blown cobweb mold...hairs everywhere...totally not what is going on in this case. Try to picture tiny growths just a few centimeters long coming from the cakes...they are wider than the cobweb mold hairs I saw too

Right, but they are not long. A centimeter. Rhizomorphic growth is a possibility? I thought cobweb at first but now am almost completely sure it's rhizo-growth. Paranoia sucks. Not having a digital camera sucks. Thanks.

Strands of mycellium reaching off my cakes is normal over here. The mexicubes do it every time every cake.
