I recently started a new experiment. Spawned millet to horse poo in 20 qt. container. Cubensis, strain golden teacher (not that it really matters). FAE is not a problem, humidity has been a little high at around 94-96%. Lighting is about 9-10 hours per day. Cased with a thin layer of 70% verm 30% coir. The myc is fairly close to the surface of the casing, fairly evenly and visible, and was actually coming up from twisting the fruits off.
Now here's the oddity. Half my caps are normal producing purple spores, whereas the other half are yellow to white (albino?). All the mushrooms have a yellowing on the stems where the myc grew up them. Upon cutting open the stems, the mushrooms are bruising yellow and some are turning brownish, if they bruise at all. Further, some stems have this yellow coloring inside the stem while others are pure white (neither bruise blue). They don't have a very strong cube odor about them either.
If anyone can explain to me what the deal is with this one casing, I'd love to know. I'm also a little worried about consuming mushrooms that have some yellow inside them and are bruising unusual colors.
Edit: I forgot two things. The casing itself is still fairly moist. It never dried up too much and barely shrunk any. Also, this is the ropiest, thickest, most aggressive myc I've seen. Even though the casing is fruiting, the myc hasn't really stopped colonizing. The bottom and sides are the purest white I've ever seen and have layers of this robey mycelium.

Don't lose that isolate. You might have something unusual like the redboy or pf's redspore. Pictures would be nice. RR

Don't all strains have the rare chance to produce albinos?

They're already drying...oops? Um, this was only the first flush so maybe it will continue through. Unfortunately, I don't know how sterile my environment is and I also don't have a way of doing agar (yet).
Edit:

Edit: RR, I'm charging my batteries. When they get done, I'll take some pics of the casing itself and see if that helps any.

try this if you get some odd ones on your next flush - simple no fuss easy-to-be-sterile LC cloning. haven't done it myself yet so i can't vouch for it, but it sure sounds good to me. print one as well (assuming it prints and the white/yellow you're seeing isn't actually a sterile 'shroom lacking spores all togheter) and see if its passed on genetically in a second round or if it was just a one time mutation. (and again assuming they're still good, thats a lotta effort to try and isolate a trait that produces non-active mushrooms )
