Nightmares.

I've been having nightmares almost every night for months now. I've been, "clean" since 4-20 (only smoked pot) and a week or two before that (just pot usage).
I'm not stressed IRL. I'm a healthy person. The dreams are usualy very detailed and disturbing.
I've been taking unisom to try to force myself to sleep but that didn't work tonight, instead I was forced to have nightmares and couldn't wake up.
So here I am, 4:14am and awake. I think I might go smoke some pot. If I'm going to have nightmares and horrible sleep, I might as well be high as a kite.
Any ideas?

It all depends on what you interpret dreams as, and there are a great many different interpretations, based on culture and various opinions and beliefs. IMO, it sounds like some aspect of yourself that you aren't fond of is trying to express itself.
In Jungian terms, part of your shadow self. It could be extremely rewarding to reflect on your dreams. Keep a pad of paper handy, and RIGHT as you wake up after a nightmare or in the morning, write down as much as you can possibly remember, no matter how trivial it may seem. Then in the light of day try to reflect on what happened in the dream, what it says about you, what it symbolizes about you, etc.

Know it is a dream, when you go to bed and/'for to' sleep..
"The Themes" is as such; If you knew it was a dream, "the monster" could be the one being afraid, even as you!

Death is after you...Be carefull of the reaper...!!!
..instead of smoking before sleep, get a good, wholesome dosage of the care bare's topped off by some chipmonks christmas carols. If that dream doesnt work...get extreme. Start playing with puppet, eating carrots then go out and find a jolly little fat kid just to hear him giggle. Though, that might just make it worse.

from my expierence i have to say, that whenever i start or top smoking pot, and the levels of canabis differ in the body, my dreams are always more vivid and stronger and more occourant. i would say that in time it will pass.

Well I stopped smoking pot a few days ago, I was taking about a hit a night for good sleeping.
The nightmares have returned and right before I sleep I can tell I am going to have a sleep filled with nightmares.
WTF?!

Lame.

i don't have nightmares anymore after my friend told me about using lucid dreaming to confront his nightmares.
i don't lucid dream, but i've learned to think of nightmares as negative situations or emotions that i am refusing to face. in dreams i don't have to be afraid to face them because my consciousness is in control. now whenever anything is even vaguely hostile to me in a dream i immediatly begin attacking the source.

you need to do some reading on lucid dreaming.
dreaming should be a vacation, not a terrifying experience.
either you have bad karma, screwed up brain chemistry, or demons are attacking you.
my advice is to learn some basic psychic self defense.
In my dreams, I can fly. I can rearrange the world around me in any way I see fit. I can have sex with any woman I want. I can become a cat or an eagle, or even a car. I can travel through the furthest reaches of space.
You must obtain awareness and control of the environment within you. I would suggest some meditation. Look within and master yourself.
If I can find you on the astral plane, I will try to assisst you in your dreams. Many people have claimed I have visited them in dreams and taught them how to fly.
If there is fear in your dreams, I would advise you to confront its source. remember, its YOUR mind and YOU are the master. NOTHING is inderior to YOUR WILL in dreams. Imagine a source of blue-white light within you. Use this light to make a forcefield around you. Know that no demons or spirits can penetrate this field, for it is the light of God.
