take a lid and draw a circle around it and cut a little more then the circle.
Or do what i do and screw the lid on and cut the rest off. Seems to work the best

I would use 4 circular saws, with diamond studded teeth, and use all 4 at once, so its faster!
Or you could tie your shoe laces together, grab some scissors, and start running!
Seriously, did what kind of response did you think you would get? Tin Snips? Fabric Shears? Garden Pruners?

Maybe cookie cutters or something that's round.
I didn't want to use square cut filters incase it were to become wet during pressure cooking.
Thanks for the pointless response though!

Nah, squares work fine, just cover the jar with a piece of alum foil and you'll be set. Honestly, squares work better then a circle does because:
a.) Lot easier to cut out b.) Will easily cover the entire mouth of the jar c.) Less work then making circles. d.) You can get more square filters from a sheet then you can a circle.

Where did you find your tyvek? I was told it can be found at a PO but I didn't find any envelopes there that had been lined with tyvek.

its not the lined envelopes.. its the envelopes themselves.. they are made entirely out of tyvek. just go in and ask for the Priority Mail envelopes.. you can have as many as you like!!!

it grants three wishes when rubbed!
(sorry the smart-ass comments further back are a bad influence)
actually it makes for a good filter material. allows for gas exchange, keeps most contams out, and holds in moisture.

Can someone let me know if there are any consequences to spiking a pressure cooker to 20-22psi for 5-10 minutes while cooking your casing mix? Will it dry it out more, or have I baked it a little too much?
Hopefully this question makes more sense.

can't this be omitted if using sterile techniques and a couple coffee filters, or are the results w/Tyvek very noticable...

coffee filters do not aid as a contam barrier. They are just used for a dust cover.
Tyvek is a microporus filter that allows gas exchange, but is small enough that it won't let moisture/water/contams in.
this is why people wrap houses with tyvek, it keeps the wood dry.

coffee filters are very low grade....basically only usefully as dust covers. Tyvek is a commercial wind\fire retardant, allowing very few types of spores through. Another option for you is Polly-fill...just go rip apart some loved ones stuffed animal! , i don't like it though, it not smooth like tyvek, cant write on it, etc.

tyvek Rocks!. I'm using it for the first time and its slick as hell. just lends itself to a certain professionalism that comes with being precise. i cut the holes in my lids and put a circle of tyvek under.. screw them down and they get a taut as a drum. easy to do and is highly functional. great. effective and useful.. and FREEEEEE thanks USPS!!

yes the consequences is you just make a pipe bomb and are likely enough to blow your self up! i find its safer to roll in garbage and chase bears. also why would you spike it? run it at 15 for the needed time. spiking it won't make it end faster. however your life might.
this question is as bad as the first. i hope third try is a charm

That would certainly work, in fact I do fine with less. I fill the jar, put one layer of postal tyvek, the metal lid with a hole (stuffed with polyfil), and then just screw the lid on. Then when I cook it I just wrap the top in foil.
I have some G2G quart jars going, and on those I tried using two polyfiled-holes and covering them with bandaids, the small ones you use for moles or blemishes. I haven't hit a contam yet, so thats my input.

Brother, if you weren't to jump to certain conclusions, then you might take the time to ask about my individual situation.
I had dry run my AA921 well over ten times before sterilizations to understand what kind of pressure it would build at certain settings on my stovetop.
Under the environment that I live in due to roomates and location, I don't have the option of performing certain procedures during anytime of anyday.
Today I had to soak and simmer 10 jars of rye grain, birth 12 jars composed of five different strains, pressure cook my mass of casing layer, pull five different syringes of LC, inoculate 12 new jars of rye grain, and case six items. My day has been long and frustrating. Apparently my pressure built differently with 10 quart jars loaded over the 90 minutes of pressure and I was careless in my attempt to perform so many procedures at once. Furthermore, do you really believe that I would spend $160 on an AA921 without understanding the pressures and timings of certain sterilizations? The fact of the matter is that I am insulted by you and premonition that I spiked my pressure intentionally. I would appreciate a little understanding from this "community" that all started from the same platform before.
I don't mind your critisizm, but the vibe that I live in is remotely isolated to respect and love. I would expect any member from an area of psychedelia, such as yourself, to understand.
