someone had mentioned waiting to see if the mycelium would overtake but from what i've been reading on this site sounds like i shouldn't risk it.
thanks for any help or feedback!

The only thing I might recommend would be to bury those in a hole. You don't want to risk any other cakes, or to spread that contam. around your house. GL.

It's a goner. Yeah, bury it in the back yard and maybe something will pop up next rainy season. It's green and it's everywhere, the mycellium will not over take it.

thanks for the replies.
from what i've read if you see it on the sides of the jar it is in total control in the middle. five of six jars are showing signs of the green. is it likely that the sixth has it too?
as far as burying it in the yard, from what i've been reading i'm guessing i shuldn't take it out of the jar. take off the lid and bury it? how deep?
thanks for your help...

i didn't use alcohol or flame to sterilize the needle tip because it came sealed in plastic so i assumed it was sterile...
also i didn't use lysol or anything in the air...
fatal mistakes?

Take the cake out of the jar before burying in the yard. Flame sterilize the needle. Lysol will do no good in the air, so use Oust. Work in a glovebox. RR

so is the thinking that if you bury it in the yard that the winter and frost would kill of the contam and leave the fungi for the spring?

No, in a more natural environment, the conaminants are not a problem. I've seen contaminated projects fruit within two to three weeks after putting outside. RR

Yea, 1/2 to 1 inch of soil on top. Put in a shady area. It helps to dump some manure or compost in the hole too. There's no need to sterilize or otherwise treat it, just dump it in. RR

Umm, I would do it now while there is still a chance.... otherwise the green may consume the mycellium. OR what I would do, if yer not moving to far away... Find a public area that people would not go to, or be likely to look, and plant it there!

Uhhh, not sure where, but I am sure you can find some info if you search around. I have heard about it on the shroomery forums, but it is not sure fire. Meaning, you aren't guaranteed anything..... but then, I'm sure you already knew that with anything regarding mushrooms.
They tend to do better in warmer temps, as far as the compost/manure, I'm sure it won't hurt, and will likely help
Save the thought and energy you're spending on this for your next batch!
