these things I know...

As many of you may or may not know, I was born and raised in Texas. My father is a petrochemical civil litigator (which basically means he is a lawyer for big oil). Now, having been born into this position, I have had many opportunities to rub elbows with the bigwigs of the GOP. Our season tickets to the Ranger games were right behind the dugout, and since George W Bush was the owner of the Rangers when I was younger, I've actually met the man several times. My father still recieves a signed photo of George W Bush every Thanksgiving. I have also met Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, and John Cornyn, our house representative. I've played golf at the same country club in Houston that George Bush Sr. is a member of.
Having met these people is one of the key reasons why I am not a Republican. I have had dinner with many high up GOPs and my estimation of their characters is extremly low. Basically I think they are all crooked scumbags.
If only the Republican politicians believed in what they preached, I might vote for them. But it is clear to me, having had candid conversations away from the public eye with many of these people, that they do not practice what they preach. My objection to the GOP is not ideological, its personal.
Sometimes its hard to convince Republican voters that their white knights are actually scallywags. Well, take it from someone who's been to more than a few GOP fundraisers: they are.
You might snicker when someone like LearyFan says 'Bush Knew about 9/11 and allowed it to happen', but personally, having met these people, I'm inclined to believe LearyFan. I mean, I've met a lot of the republicans who are curently in control of our government, and i just wouldn't put it past them

yeah, it would be cool if kinky won, but there are so many fucktard rednecks here that think the GOP hung the moon, I seriously doubt that it will happen.

I remember in the year 1999 my father told me that George w. Bush was going to beat Al Gore in the election, and that we would be going to war with Arabs shortly thereafter. Wonder how he knew that...? Kinda creepy.
Could it be that the GOP, PNAC, the Carlysle Group, and Haliburton have been planning this war for years?

I'm sure if you have had the opportunity to be in close personal proximity to some key Democrats, you feelings would be unfortunately similar.

I bet you're right. Still, though, showing that Democrats are scumbags doesn't negate the fact that Republicans are scumbagas as well.

probably. Meh, I was brought up Libertarian.
I remember when I was a little kid, my father would come home every night about 7 or 8PM, he would be all pissed off and say stuff like: "Justin, don't ever become a lawyer. You'll spend your whole life working for greedy assholes who just want to screw everyone."
God bless my old man... without him, I'd be nothing

Richard Clarke has stated publicly many times that Bush Co. had planned to attack Iraq before they ever got into office.
Ask your dad how he knew that and get back to us. I'm curious.

Thanks Dr. J. Great thread, very interesting stuff. It is good to hear a first hand source.

I've really said way too much already. The only reason I'm coming out with this now is because Dad is basically retired, and I am officially an independant, so he's not responsible for what I say and do anymore. Check your PM's, though

Richard Clarke has stated lots of things. Big fucking deal. He has serious credibility issues
Bush and co would have been remiss if they didn't have plans for eliminating Hussein. Fortunately, the idiot gave them an excuse.

Also, I'd like to state publicly that I really don't think GWB is that bad a guy... A little slow, possibly. A puppet, definitely. But deep down, I think he has good intentions. Unfortunately, the path to hell... well, you catch my drift.
I remember from my youth a different GWB. He was a rich kid baseball team owner who wore torn jeans and propped his cowboy boots up on the dugout. He seemed happy then... Looking into his eyes, you saw this inner contentment, like the guy didn't have a care in the world...
Now, whenever I see him on television, he always has this 'deer in the headlights' expression on his face. Its clear that the stresses of his job have ravaged him. I honestly believe he was pushed into politics by his family. Really, I feel sorry for the guy. His father is the real bad guy

I really liked 41` as president and think he got totally fucked by the residue of the Reagan economy. As to W looking bad, man, the office kills. Clinton didn't look so bad because nothing happened. Nothing. At all. Reagan didn't get beat so bad because he was a fucking oblivious idiot.

as far as I'm concerned GB is fucking pure evil. He's the father of all lies. Don't get me wrong, there's people worse than him, and there's people higher up on the ladder... people you've probably never heard of. The people who run the world are rich, but they ain't famous.
