Should i patch then fruit or patch then incubate more? the mycelium is right under the casing layer..like right there...its PE mycelium and its ver very aggressive for some reason..the myc you see only took 2-3 days to poke thru a 1 1/2 inch casing layer the substrate is 4 inches deep..soo patch n fruit or patch and incubate?
The other mycelium is right under the surface..i think it weill keep growing ocne i fruit, dont you think?

Dont cut it out. Just patch it, the casing layer doesnt have to be totaly even as long as the mycelium is popping up evenly across the casing layer.

1 and 1/2 inches is pretty thick for a casing layer.

its personal preference i guess, but for 4 inches of substrate or more i never go above 1/2 inch.

1" is plenty thick for a casing no matter with depth the substrate. Overly think casings can lead to anerobic bacteria contamination which is a problem.

Theres absolutely no reason to go thicker than 1" IME. NEVER Also I sure hope your kidding about the big ten incher!

Recently I've come to find my best results are with thinner casing layers. I used to go 1/2inch, now I do 1/4 to about 3/8inch. 50/50+ .
That way you can fruit it quicker and the mycelium seems to come up more evenly, and that's a good thing.
Besides, when your doing small hobby grows (with H-poo) you really just need 3 inches of substrate max. Even in what would be considered a LARGE tub it's still not that hard to dunk the entire substrate then re-apply a THIN new casing layer and get some wicked fruits.
I guess my point is, trying LESS once in a while doesn't hurt. I'd rather have 5 two inch trays then one 10 incher.

It's just that after 4 1/2-5 inches your wasting sub.
