To Join or Not to Join. US Air Force

Alright... So here is my situation. I am currently a freshmen in college. I am undeclared and have no idea what i want to do with my life. College is fun, but what I am doing is getting me nowhere and costing me a LOT of money. My grades for this semester aren't the greatest and I have been EXTREMELY stressed out. I failed a class for some bullshit first semester and will eventually have to retake it which is going to cost me a shit load of money for a class that does me NO good, it is remedial math.
Anyway, I really want to start doing something more with my life. It's not that college isn't for me, as I would probably be going to college through the air force, but I feel like I am coming up to a wall in my life, and if I don't do something, I am going to fuck up bad.
Anyway, is anyone here enlisted? Any thoughts on joining? I would enlist for the min - 4 years... I figure basic training will get me in better shape, kick some college drinking habits, and do myself some good. Plus, for the next 4 years I wont have to worry so fucking much and will be MUCH less stressed out. I can travel, experience new things, and learn skills for a given job. One thing I do know is that I would make damn sure I don't have a job that will put me in harms way. I fucking hate bush, and would never want to be in the combat zone. I don't know... Any advice here?

don't join. i could give a million and one reasons why not (and there certainly are short-term economic reasons for joining), but really, just think about it. don't throw your life away so rich fucks can play with the world and get richer

go to college when you think you know what you might possibly want to do to make you HAPPY in life.
until then go to a trade school. learn something you can take anywhere like AC repair or to be an electrician or plumber, they make good money and you can do it basically anywhere theres a modern peice of society.
When youre done figuring out who the fuck you are as a person, then go to college.
go to the air force and help in the aid of killing people. SURE its for a good cause, if you believe in killing for good causes, but youre still helping to kill and murder people

I was thinking about it. I talked to some people, got a few phone calls.
I wanted to do the medical program through the Air Force. What I found out is that you don't really get to pick which program you want. They wanted to me enroll in some computer-tech program. They said they didn't have a need for any more medical applicants.
So, I kinda ended it at the point. They kept calling, but I never picked up. They stopped eventually.

"I fucking hate bush, and would never want to be in the combat zone."
Then don't join the American Military, you would only be supporting them and you would be fighting a WAR for no good reason. You don't think the military would be stressfull? Think again friend, it would be very stressfull.
Is your semester done? If it is just start working, look around for little things you might like and try them out, and if when school comes back around you decide your more refreshed then give it another go.

just remember that when you sign that piece of paper, the government OWNS YOU. You have no rights at that point. You are expendable. The government can and will control EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of your life. When you wake up, when you shit, when you eat, all of that is at the discretion of uncle sam. They will inject you with chemicals that make you temporarily unable to have erections. They will yell and shout and physically torture you until you have no mind or will of your own, and you will come back a shell of the man you were before you joined. The military uses techniques similar to religious cults to brainwash (or, as they call it 'train') their employees.
personally, that isn't worth any amount of money to me. I've seen the hell that the armed forces have put my friends through, and there is no way in hell that I would voluntarily serve, knowing the things I do and having heard some pretty aweful stories...

i joined the air force right out of high school, and let me tell you one thing: you will NOT lose any stress by joining. you WILL lose total control of your life, and nothing is promised once you sign up. i hated it and i was actually good at most things. i was my flight's leader in basic and i was in charge of my squadron in tech school, and it really sucked.
the air force tried to renig on me and give me a different job than what i signed up for, so i had to get creative and fail a few tests to get out. it wasnt a dishonorable discharge, but it was a bitch to go through. they got 8 months of my life and all i have to show for it is my second tattoo.
it did put some discipline in me and i can tell i learned a few things, but for me its really not worth it. dont believe anything recruiters tell you either. theyre paid bonuses based on how many people they get to enlist and they will lie straight to your face.
but if you can handle being told what to do 100% of the time, and i mean 100%, not 99, go for it. the benefits kick ass if you dont have a family to drag around with you, and the pay aint too bad. the air force is a lot more expeditionary these days though, meaning if you think you wont go to war just because your in the air forcce, your wrong. you most likely would be deployed twice in those 4 years. you just never know. good luck with your decision

99 Red Balloons
You and I in a little toy shop Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got Set them free at the break of dawn 'till one by one they were gone Back at base, sparks in the software Flash the message "something's out there" Floating in the summer sky Ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine red balloons Floating in the summer sky Panic bells, it's red alert There's something here from somewhere else The war machine springs to life Opens up one eager eye And focusing it on the sky The ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine decisions treat Ninety nine ministers meet To worry, worry, super scurry Call the troops out in a hurry This is what we've waited for This is it boys, this is war The President is on the line As Ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine knights of the air Ride super high-tech jet fighters Everyone's a super hero Everyone's a Captain Kirk With orders to identify To clarify and classify Scramble in the summer sky Ninety nine red balloons go by
As ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine dreams I have had In every one a red balloon It's all over and I'm standing pretty In this dust that was a city If i could find a souvenir Just to prove the world was here And here is a red balloon I think of you and let it go

Yes, I have heard this is true from guys I've known who have enlisted. Erections do not happen during boot-camp for anyone.

If you do join the military, join the Air Force for sure. They are the top bud and have better benifits in the long term.
Good luck man.

NOT true biatch!!
I was in the Marines and the only reason you didnt get erections was because of the constant high stress. This was true too for women in which they might miss a cycle or two.
This was a huge rumor in bootcamp. Including that the food there was rich in salt (that one was comfirmed and true by our DI's) but only because of how much water and salt we lost through sweating.
Because of the intense training and diet, you would also only shit like every four days though. Your body would literally consume all the energy from the food you ate leaving little waste product...

Oh yeah, and once you adjusted, youd shit regularly and have morning wood.
This was true in the case of a recruit we caught masturbating inside the head.

I said army, not marines
I don't know anyone who was in the marines. I know plenty of people who were in the army, and they didn't get no boners while they were in basic.
not to mention all the 'mystery injections' they were given...
"Hey doc, what are you injecting me with?"
"Shut up, bitch. Your pubic property is public property now!"

The most important thing you need to know about college:
1. The only way I have ever seen people succeed in college is if they really wanted to be there or if they really wanted to do something that college would help them get into. If you don't have either of those feelings and you don't think they will arise you should quit right now.
Some things you need to know about the military and the Air Force:
1. The Air Force is cake. You'll probably sit at a desk, have air conditioned quarters, and get fat. I know this because I had a friend who was in the Air Force.
2. The Air Force has too many people right now as I remember. They are trying to shed people. Because they have so many people it might be difficult to get into your job of choice.
3. When you pick a job there is no guarantee you will get it. All branches of the military end up putting you whereever you are needed, i.e. whereever the fuck they want.
4. Recruiters lie and conveniently leave stuff out. If you do plan on joining make them get all of the promises they give you IN WRITING. Have a lawyer go over it. Very plainly threaten them with this as they will know you mean business and you are not one to dick around with.
5. When you sign up you are immediately beholden to the military for seven years. During those seven years they can tell you when to jump and how high at any hour of the day. When they say stuff like "You'll only be on active duty for 18 months-4 years" it is not accurate. Because of the war stretching our forces thin they are calling up people in the reserves and on non-active duty. They are also keeping people in PAST their agreed to 7 years. In other words the U.S. government is breaking the contracts it has with servicemen. This is happening in the Army and Marines much more than with the Navy and the Air Force however.
6. If you join any branch of the military be prepared to spend at least seven years under the government's thumb and a good part of that seven years in Iraq.
