Too dry WBS?
    #5551028 - 04/24/06 12:52 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

My wbs jars seem to be dry now for some reason even though the tops are screwed on as tight as can be. I shake them and the top wbs when it hits the side of the jars sounds like a moracco. I assume this is bad. they also look dry on the outside, does this matter or is the water in the inside that counts? secondly if it is dry can i just boil some water hen suck it up in a syringe and squirt it in to re-hydrate the wbs?

You can add water, but getting the appropriate amount is going to be like shooting at a dart board with your eyes closed. What method did you use for preparation? Soak? Soak and simmer? Simmer only? Are you using a pressure cooker?

i soaked for 24 hours then drained and washed over really well with hot water then let sit in teh collander. When i loaded the wbs in the jars i could see standing water in the jars. since i hear dthat this was bad i dumped the wbs back out of teh jars and put a twoel over it to dry. i then loaded back up and there was no standing water. i then pc'd for an hour at 15 psi.

it sounds fine, a jar can look way drier that it actually is... unless you have like 100 jars to knock up just use them and see what happens,i'm almost positive it will work fine, and even if it doesn't no harm done. just use less of the syringe ans save the rest for later.
