Re-using Syringes

i have done tons of research on reusing syringes, but spoes are tiny as hell... and seem to not get clean. No matter how many times i fill a syringe with boiling water and squirt it out, it just doesn't come clean.
i have heard of people Pc'n em. this sounds like a great idea, but for how long? What would it take to kill a spore?
I knocked up a whole bunch of jars, and they contamed. Spores are from a relible source. This should be the only excuse for that many jars to contam.

Pressure cooking your used syringes will definitely ensure sterility. 20-25 minutes at 10-15 PSI will do the trick.

^^^ also, every time i go to the doctor i grab a handful of wooden Q-tips(The ones that are like 6-8 inches long), they work great for getting syringes clean!

I reuse my syringes all the time,i never bought a new one since i started growin about a year ago..i just boil water and run it thru the syringe to sterilize it and make sure no bacteria is in it or contams..and it works everytime..if u are worried about contams just wrap the syringe in tinfoil and boil it in water.GL

Boiling will not kill bacterial endospores its best to pc just to make sure you kill all possible contaminants.

how would bacteria endospores get inside your syringe? there should only be old spores in there really. ive never had problmes with sucking up boiling water and repeating. plus you get to shoot water out of teh syringe. call me crazy but i like to see how far back i can get back from the sink. maybe thats a a guy thing

Hydrogen peroxide or 91% alcohol? Maybe pull a bit of alcohol into the syringe, shake it up so it covers all the surfaces and then squirt it out?

On the last one I emptied, I noticed there was a very prominent purple ring around the barrel on the inside where the plunger stopped. Took 15-20 rinses, a drop of soap, and a serious spastic shaking, to get 'em out.
My wife caught me shooting the water across the kitchen into the sink, and I got grounded (I was ~10-12' away, and a good bit of the water wasn't making it to the sink).

There will be no heat resistant bacterial endospores on a syringe. I use and reuse mine hundreds of times. Simply fill the syringe with water and place in a large kettle of cold water. Turn on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Allow to boil for at least twenty minutes. In your clean room, remove the syringe from the hot water and squirt out the water that is inside. It is now ready to reuse. If you get contaminants, they came from some other source. RR

lol
i have done the shooting water across the room also... Haha. (guy thing)
as for the kettle of cold water boil thing, pc'n would be about the same thing right? just better and more heat. These are b-d syringes, so they can be pc'd.
i had problems with Lipstick mold, and trich on dirty spores. I found evidence of these contams in my new jars. Therefor i am lead to believe they came from the syringe.
Can i Pc them dry or full of water? or both?

pc worked great... and i even left teh caps on the syringes when i did it.
filled the syringes with about 9 cc's of water, and placed inside qt jars. Needle pointing up, and pc's for about 20-25 min @ 15 psi.
let's hope everything turns out great.

yeh my syringes hold up for 90 minutes at 15psi too. surprisingly to me, most will.
I'm still having stalling issues with my WBS though.
recently i was wondering if the time inbetween sterilization and inoculation is allowing dirty air to come in contact with the syringe as it sits in the cooled down PC.
how often after PCing are you people using your syringes? How long after PCing a syringe can you wait before using it and still have a clean syringe?
i'm thinking maybe next time i shoot up i will PC and additionally go through the boiling of the PCed syringe immediately before it enters my glove box.
p.s i love squirting shit all over my house too

Don't you just have to get it hot enough to kill the spores already in there? Even if they are chillin on the walls of the syringe, they won't do anything....

Cover the syringes in foil before you PC if you want them to be clean longer. B-D's seem to be well made. My only complaint is I've used mine so much the ink's no longer on the side.

I had a bunk syringe one time that I couldn't really explain... No contams, no myc, no nothing... still testing, it's been 2 months. Dead Rocket from shipping heat or whatever... Wrote an e-mail to the vendor, and when I blinked I had a new one. I tried the old one on wbs, pf/brf, agar, and liquid culture, with no results... The moral of the story is write to them and explain the situation, allow the vendor to make the call and you should be well taken care of. If it was ralphster's, than you're okay, they are great.
