Hey guys - can't wait for the new album. Judging from Vicarious, it promises not to disappoint!
Some friends and I are planning on enjoying it start to finish beshroomed, on a 2-3 gram trip. What better way to enjoy it I ask. I'll follow this post up with a trip report as soon as --
Anybody else have similar plans?

The album has leaked, my friend. It isn't nearly as good as Lateralus or Aenima to me (Lateralus is my favorite album ever). Half of the lyrics are just ridiculous and the music is missing something.
I still wouldn't be surprised if 10,000 is just a hoax...define Vicarious and listen to the lyrics...it seems so blatant.

AW, Im sure it kicks ass.
II, met a boy, wearing Vans, 501s, and a dope, beastie-tee, nipple rings, new tattoos, that claimed tha he was OGT, back from '92, from the first EP. And in between sips of coke he told me that he thought we were sellin' out, layin' down, suckin' up to the man. Well now I've got some advice for you, little buddy. Before you point your finger you should know that I'm the man, and if I'm the man, then you're the man, and he's the man as well so you can point that fuckin' finger up your aaaaaaaaaaass!
They are too good for a non-musician to take shots at them for evolving into something new, Oversoul.......
Why cant people just enjoy the differences between their albums instead of acting like your some music critic. It just seems stupid to me. The less metal they got their message, lyrics nor musical relavence suffered.

Its not a hoax. Its good though, its tool but it more like thirteenth step fused with the whole tool sound.

Damn. Sorry to hear that dude. I mean, I'll certainly make my own judgements once I've listened to the album in its entirety. I noticed the lyrics in Vicarious were rather simple but I was sorta hoping it was the exception due to being the single as it would be targeted at a larger audience.
That's what I loved so much about Lateralus (also my favorite album), the lyrics and the fact that it was so (IMO) thematically dense. Thing I enjoyed most about Lateralus was decoding the lyrics and coming up with my own interpretation as to its meaning.

I always come up with my own interpretation of the lyrics of the music i listen to. Trying to figure out what it means to the singer it pointless.

True. True.
And if the lyrics are ambiguous enough, as in the case of Lateralus, people can come up with many different interpretations.

Adjective
vicarious
1. Experienced or gained through someone else.
I got a certain vicarious pleasure from watching them win.
2. Done on behalf of others
The concept of vicarious atonement, that one person can atone for the sins of another, is found in many religions.
I'm not sure what you're getting at, unless you have a different definition of vicarious.
I would be surprised if it was a hoax (although I don't put it past them). I have listend to the lyrics and it is fairly obvious what the song is about and unless I missed something it's not about faking the album. The album is just too good for it to be fake.

This album immediately appealed to me in a musically intelligent way, despite being extremely strange. Their ability to pull odd time signatures together seamlessly is pretty incredible at times. I don't really like Vicarious that much, but some of the other songs are just awe-inspiring in a way.
I like:
The Pot, which starts out in a particularly unique way that I would find somewhat offensive to the ears if it weren't being done by such a good vocalist. (How about that vocal solo in "the everlasting gaze" by the Pumpkins? I like Corgan, but that was painfully arranged.)
I also enjoy Jambi a lot. That palm-muted guitar riff kicks ass. And the way the vocals fit in over it is pretty impressive. Almost feels atonal in a way at first... but, of course, it works out once you know what to expect...
Lipan Conjuring is amusing, and well done. Can't complain. Same with Lost Keys.
Rosetta Stoned's manipulation of vocals to make crazy rhythms is really cool.

I dont like the album title, the theory was they were gonna change it - reminds me way too much of ten thousand fists. uggh
Pretty sweet albulm though I think its gonna grow on me. Definately noticed the "perfect circle-ness" in some of the songs. I was expecting much harder songs, they said it would be, and also with all their apparant meshuggah influence. The album definately isnt that "hard", I'd put it on par with lateralus.
