so im about to harvest my first casing. i know to harvest everything at once & clear the aborts so the casing can recover quickly for the 2nd flush but i have also read that i should make sure not to mess with the underdeveloped pins cause they should come up on the 2nd flush. so the question is where do you draw the line between mushrooms that are slower to mature and should be harvested and pins that should stay for the next flush? i was thinking of leaving anything smaller than a half inch? help me out here.
also i wanna recase any area disturbed by the harvest, not lightly recasing the whole thing right? thanks again!

Just patch wherever you pick'em. As for harvesting pins, just harvest them if they turn dark, or you can easily knock a cap off.

Only if the caps are turning dark, but not dark from spores. If the pins aren't darkening or bluing, and you cant knock a cap off just by barely touching it, leave it.

pick all shrooms that are ready to be picked. any shrooms that arent quite ready yet, let those go until they are ready. the spots where you picked shrooms will need a lil time to recover before they pin for the 2nd flush, so you shouldnt have to worry about any 2nd flush shrooms coming up before the first is entirely ready to be harvested.
but the thing i want to know is, why do you think u have to pull them all at once if you arent going to dunk? the only time i see it necessary to pull every last shroom at harvest time is if you are going to dunk. otherwise all you need to do is patch the divits with a thin layer of casing and pull any shrooms as they mature.
so unless you are dunking, what you are concerned about doesnt even matter. jsut mist and patch harvest divets.(sprinkle just enough casing so that the divet is completely covered.)
and of course pick the aborts no matter what.

i dunno thats what i read, that you should harvest all at once cause the casing will recover from the damage easier. its better that thats not the case because i really didnt wanna pick some of these before they were ready.

Harvesting shrooms by twisting and pulling them from the substrate can damage surrounding mushrooms. This will either stunt or stop those mushrooms growth, it's not advised to pick mushrooms off a casing until most of the musrhrooms have matured. If you have a few mushies leading the pack you can sever the stem by using a scissor, or simply cut the cap off and leave the stem til you harvest the rest. This stops the mushroom from over maturing, doesn't damage the surrounding mushies, and it allows you to print a cap early as well as stopping a heavy spore deposit.
