I mostly play electric keyboard..
Done some guitar in the past, but I suck so far - not enough practice.
If I had a drum set that would be nice, because I also like playing those.

I'm starting paino lessons on Tuesday!!!!
I can't wait.
over the past year I've got the urge to play the cello, but they are expensive, and I already have a decent keyboard, so I figured I'd start small.

Yep.
Vocal skills, here.
I like old-fashioned harmonies.
Mostly devoted to mental/charismatic development.
Guitar but can't seem to stay interested.
I have a kind of natural rhythm, but no drums.

I play the guitar. I like playing alot of hardcore metal and shit. Shit like black dahlia murder and children of bodum. I really like playing pantera and metallica also. If you looks in my gallery you can check out a pic of me jamming on my beast. I love my jackson warrior.

I can also play the drums a bit and the bass. I would like to play the durms alot more but I don't really have a set. So the only time I get to play on them is when we have a jam session.

I've been playing guitar for about 3-4 years, learning to sing along the way. I write a lot more than I practice, so my technical skills are behind. I play a little piano, and suck at it pretty badly.

i can't justify living my life if i can't play music. percussionist first and foremost...grew up playing and listening to a lot of jazz, but i've been in just about every type of band imaginable. right now i'm drumming for this tight little reggae/rock combo, it's so much fun.
i picked up guitar also in middle school, took some piano lessons, and can throw down a few basslines, but not much experience there. :sun:

I mainly play keys--here's a pic of me playing at the Roxy with my band (Astronaut Friends).

I've also been playing guitar for a few years, starting to get really into that. Its a much more jammable instrument than that complicated piece of machinery I have in the picture. Simplicity is key.

I also do a lot of percussion. I could be better at the drumset if I practiced more. But thats true of everything I suppose. Mostly play hand drums and stuff.

I just started playing guitar in November. I had a Chinese-made Fender Squier which I upgraded to an American made mahogany Washburn for $50. My coworker had had it in his garage for 10 years.

I played the instruments so much I managed to cause problems with my muscles and nerves. Now I'm off the medication and my muscles are strong enough to play without too much pain.

I play the thing about 2-3 hours every day now, and I'm mostly learning Dead material, though I'm also learning a few songs here and there for the Bonnaroo crowd.

Guitar for 6 years
Piano for 3 years
Drums + percussion off/on

Various other random ethnic instruments

Making your own music is just like nothing else. And I can't think of anything I'd rather do more while tripping.

Well, maybe a few things.

Guitar 10 years. I sing and write and play any string instrument I can get my hands on. I haven't as much experience with piano but I think I'm falling in love with it. The only piano I have access to is my mothers, who got it after my grandmother died. I wanted it so bad but oh well my mom needs the piano to play church hymns over and over and over and...but that's another story. So I know some stuff on piano, and can get some lovely sounds out of it (I'm better than my mom anyway), but me and the guitar are just a perfect match.

Hell yeah I can play Yellow Ledbetter. That's a pretty riff, not hard at all. I think Eddie's just mumbling throughout, so that what I always do.

That's so awesome man. I have music in my head but no patience to learn.

I almost took violin lessons last year but pussed out. I think I will actually take them once I move. I  the violin. I guess it isn't a great solo instrument but oh well.

Violin rocks.  My ex's sister let me borrow her old violin, and it took some getting used to but I can sit there and play violin till I get back spasms, just listening to the timbre of it.  It's a sound that can only come from your soul.  Guitar and piano can both be played in cerebral, mathematical ways, but when you play the violin, you breathe with it, your heart beats with it, it's unlike anything else.  And that's when you're NOT tripping.

But now we broke up and I have to give the violin back to her sister.  One of these days I'll save up for one, though.

Dude, just get a book of your favorite songs with easy chords, or look up the tabs.  Learn how to play a few chords, a song at a time.  Might I recommend Beatles songs?  You learn a lot about the way songs are structured with them, because they wrote in every possible style, even a few impossible ones.  That's what I cut my teeth on, but then again, I'm a Beatles nut.

That is, if you're inclined to play guitar.  I believe every musician must learn either piano or guitar.  It will be of great use to you when you learn violin, I promise.

Yeah, I actually rented a violin and had an appointment with a lady who used a $10,000 violin (jesus!) to teach me.

I think I didn't think I could do it. Maybe that sounds dumb, I was scared of looking foolish.

I don't know how to read music man. I even purchased this nice ass keyboard but it just sits there collecting dust. :frown:

I would LOVE to play the guitar but I don't have super long fingers.

Let's see my middle finger is 3 1/4" long. :frown:

Are you freakin kiddin me? Did yall do any research or just go off of old worn out stereotypes? I've been all over the country, and to be honest I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but Texas. Austin is one of the most liberal cities in the U.S., and all these deadheads would feel right at home. We have such a range of people, geography, and culture that many states lack.

Why don't you make fun of some guedos in New Jersey. If yall were just messin around, sorry I can't take a joke right now because I'm exhausted. If this was serious, then go hump some Canadians, eh.

those of you in bands should post some of your shit.
here's a song that makes fun of texas, if anyone's interested.
i'm on drums.

Are yall just goofin or really makin fun of Texas?  Couldn't tell because I couldn't understand a word your singer was sayin.  Did he say, "down in Texas they got no rain?"

If this was serious, then go hump some Canadians, eh.

don't be offended dude, it's just a song. of course it's not serious. Austin is one of my favorite places in the world man  :sun:
thanks for listening to it
