Nutmeg Tripping?!?!!?

Ok, anyone else heard of this?
Yes, nutmeg, the spice... Not the pre-ground stuff you can purchase anywhere, but the actual, whole nuts..
I read about these causing trips, so me and my friend tried it... We ground up approx. 2 tablespoons of fresh nutmeg and poured it into a glass of water each, chugged it, (The worst concoction you will ever taste--worse than moonshine, shrooms, dog shit combined) waited 3 fucking hours, and nothing!
Anyone else try nutmeg tripping?
PS. I read that 2 tablespoons is more than enough... wrong?

Supposedly it's not worth it. Most people have terrible experiences and the amount of nutmeg you need to trip is very toxic.

I tried 4 and a half nuts once, didnt really get that much from it. I spent hours waiting for it to come on, then it never really did.
I had abit of uncontrolable laughter, like i just started laughing for no reason. Then the day after i felt really floaty, i didn't need to smoke much weed to get stoned.
Ive heard if you have too much it can be too intense, and it goes on for hours !. Best to stay clear of this one really. Plus like DrGeek says its toxic, i think it can damage the liver.
Look one erowid ( http://www.erowid.org/plants/nutmeg/nutmeg.shtml )for some more info.
( just like to say to anyone, dont take 4 and a half nuts as a proper dosage. It might be different for you. )

it takes like 9 hours to even start to come up, most people take a table spoon or whatever then go to sleep so when the wake up they are starting to feel weird. Seriously, it's a gay way to to get high. Datura and nutmeg and muscaria are all in the same league.

I know of many people who enjoy A. muscaria, and I know of a few who like datura (and these dudes really love it!). I know of noone who enjoys nutmeg.
I dont think I've seen one recommendation of it..... ever. Most comments are "was drunk for 3 days", some people feel sick but pretty much noone does it twice.
Thats a good question - is there anyone out there who has had 2 or more actual "trips" (ie ones that count) on nutmeg? Out of all the people who read this question I'd be surprised if there was.

oh but there is. But these people are often people with special intrest in plants you might say and also know that you cant go to the supermarked and buy the nutmegs but you need spesific strains first of all, i doubt any of these strains are availble in the spice rack. But its just a few people, there is not many that bothers pursuit nutmeg enough for its mental effects.

I've done it twice and it was pretty enjoyable both times. I ate 3 tablespoons both times. The first time I had some real mild hallucinations (stuff wiggling and such) but mostly felt really baked for about 2 and a half days.
I don't think I'll be doing it again (at least for awhile), but I would reccomend trying it. Only bad things about it were the taste (try making a lemon icee and mixing the nutmeg in, really cuts the taste) and I had some aches in my side.

well there is a real health risk by eating nutmegs:
myristicin A naturally occurring methylenedioxyphenyl compound found in nutmeg. It has been suggested that myristicin may be responsible, in whole or in part, for the toxicity of nutmeg. The spice (5-15g) causes symptoms similar to atropine poisoning: flushing of skin, tachycardia, absence of salivation, and excitation of the central nervous system. Euphoria and hallucinations have given rise to abuse of this material. As a methylenedioxyphenyl compound, myristicin gives rise to a type III spectrum with reduced cytochrome P-450 and can inhibit monooxygenations catalyzed by this cytochrome. See also AMPHETAMINES; CYTOCHROME P-450, OPTICAL DIFFERENCE SPECTRA; HALLUCINOGENS.
ILLUSTRATED CHURCHILL'S MEDICAL DICTIONARY (page 1227) and INTERNATIONAL DICTIONARY OF MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY (page 1868) (These have exactly the same text.)
myristicin A toxic, crystalline, safrole derivative present in star anise, parsley seed oil, and nutmeg oil. When ingested in large quantities, it can cause convulsions, hallucinations, tachycardia, and possibly death.
---
but it doesnt last half a week, i never heard one report suggesting this
also legal highs is a bullshit term. does this include every substance that has some mental activity that arent illegal yet? or what is a legal highs. some will say its a marijuana substitute also. obviously nutmeg is not a marjuana substitute. but if its all substances that gives activity this is far from the worst "legal high".
Many have good experiences with nutmeg, there are several reports on erowid supporting this.

I stand corrected, but still it's rare to hear about good experiences.
I think it would be safe to say that if it dissappeared tomorrow, few would miss it as a legal way to alter ones perception of reality.
For me, nutmeg might be something you try once for the inquisitive- but you're probably better off not bothering. Keep it on the spice rack, and not in your liver.

You have to take the word "toxicity" in context here. What what they desribe in sterile medical word as "toxicity" is the nutmeg high. Notice the "symptoms"; it's even got drymouth. The myristicin is really the chemical that you want. The fact that it is a methylenedioxyphenyl compound means that your body may digest it into some of the same chems as some phenethylamines (check out PiHKAL to see the extensive work Shulgin's done messing around with the methylenedioxy ring on various amphetamines and phenthylamines).
Now I won't argue that the high is especially worthwhile. I've done it a few times, it basically just made me feel high for a day or two. But I don't think it's fair to call nutmeg dangerously toxic in typical recreational doses. I do remember reading that too much repreated use in too small a period of time isn't good for the liver.
