humidity problems in small single cake chamber

i have a single PK Tek cake in a small tupperware container, with about an inch of perilite saturated to about a 1/2 inch. For some reason, my humidity is only 50% after two days. I even spray a few times daily. My shrooms are growing fine, but no new shrooms are popping up (I'm sure bc of the low humidity)
is there anything I can do to fix this (that won't cost an arm and a leg)
Thanks!

If the humidity was really 50% then it would show on the shrooms that are growing now..they would likely be stunted. And the caps would crack.
Could be just a bad hygrometer.

those hydrometers are bs. unles syou buy a really good one. if you have perlite in there then and a small container you will ahev close to if not 100% RH. do you have standing water in your perlite? if you do drain as much as you can. keep it as wet as you can with no standing water (least possible)

If you've saturated the bottom 1/2" of your perlite, that section is no longer helping with the humidity. You should have zero standing water. Rinse the perlite, allow to drain, then dump in your container. 1 to 2 inches of damp perlite will deliver 98% humidity to a small terrarium. RR

k done - hope it works
i think my humidity reading thingy isn't working well
b/c those things are growing!
some mycelium is starting to form on the caps, so it still must not be optimal

Best to get a cheap mechanical hygrometer at a cigar shop. Calibrate by wrapping it up in a damp towel for half an hour, then adjust the screw on the back so the dial reads 98%. Repeat weekly. RR

if you take a soda cap full of salt and put both the hygrometer and the cap of salt in a small glad sandwich container, then wet the salt so it is moist but not swimming the correct hygrometer reading after about 4-5 hrs should be exactly 75% use this as a bassist for calalbration
