I need alot of help here!!!
    #554742 - 02/17/02 07:44 PM (22 years, 9 months ago)

Ok . . . .ive beein trying really hard to get all these materials together and its hard.

So far for my substrate i got rye flour but it doesnt say organically grown . .it says all natural . . .is that good?

next i cant find vermeculite for the life of me . . .no place sells it . .ive tried 4 different stores . . k-mart,wal-mart,home depot, lowes . . .where can i get it? and do i NEED it cause if not i just wont use it and ill just use the rye flour.

also i have peat moss and perlite and some potting soil . .could i use that as a casing? or mayb just the peat moss and potting soil? . . .what would work the best cause i cannot find vermculite anywhere?!!

and finally . .do i need to have glass jars cause im just going to boil them cause i dont have a pressure cooker. I cant find any canning jars tho either . .is there a store online that i could get them for really cheap??

Thx alot . . .and any help would great.
Oh and just in case - I read the FAQ!!!

don-
i have just regular ball wide mouth decoritive jelly jars
they work great.kinda hard to find them in the offseason though.but im in real tite with the owner of the hardware shop i get mine at.so i could order you a few dozen if u want me to.the only problem the shipping would probably be as much as the jars..lol....unless you got 5 dozen or so.
also...the grains....well i have heard the rye makes more potent shrooms, but in my opinion BRF was faster for me then Rye but the rye was probably more stronger....hell the 10 grain has it all in there though..i jsut got some in the mail.....u will need to work with the 10 grain to get your water measurements correct.
***WARNING ADDING TO MUCH WATER TO THE 10 GRAIN WILL GET THINGS VERY STICKY VERY FAST****

peace dude-

"i got rye flour but it doesnt say organically grown . .it says all natural . . .is that good" - Yes, this will work fine. I do suggest finding a blender and grinding your own from whole grain if possible.

"next i cant find vermeculite for the life of me . . .no place sells it . .ive tried 4 different stores" - You obviously forget to try a hydroponics store. You can get as much as you'll ever need from them. Most sell it in bulk too...up to 4 cubic ft.

"also i have peat moss and perlite and some potting soil . .could i use that as a casing?" - Again, everything you need here is at a hydroponics store [if you have one in your area].

"I cant find any canning jars tho either" - I'm tired of answering this question because it's so damn easy to find the right jars. All you have to do is call a company that makes the jars and ask them which store sells them in your area. You can find contact info at: www.homecanning.com or do a search of my posts as this question has been asked a million times and I've posted phone numbers for both U.S. and Canadian canning jar manufacturers in other threads.
