I have to admit that I'm skeptical that a garden store wouldn't sell vermiculate. It would kind of like going to hardware store that didn't sell tape measures. It's possible but it'd be really weird.

I had trouble finding it at first too. One tip. Don't trust employees to know what it is. I've talked to managers that said they had never heard of it, then found it 10 feet from the registers. I get mine from Home Depot.

if you cant find it at a garden shop locate a hydroponics store. They usually have the 4 cu ft bags for 20 bucks. Stay away from the 8 liter bags tho, lots of hydro stores jack the prices up 4-8 bucks from what it should cost. I find my verm at lowes in the garden center. It's usually right next to the perllite, ask for the "schultz" brand as thats what most stores carry.

Awsome! Sounds like you should be set
It took me forever to find the stuff, but now I've got a massive sack of it sitting in my mother's barn. Only cost 6 dollars too for more than I'll probobly ever use.
