doesnt algae make oxygen?

I have some algae that keep popping up in my perlite. My cakes seam not to cake much and produce nice fruits.

Doesnt algae make oxygen? I dont have to much, just a couple spots. They keep coming up every time i use this perlite about 1 week of changing it. I took some and dried it out and it turned brown.

yeah, algae is photosynthetic, thus, it turns sunlight and CO2 into glucose and O2. If you want more O2 in your chamber you can put some hydrogen peroxide in a jar with some manganese dioxide. The manganese dioxide breaks of the extra oxygen in the H2O2, making a thick white clowd of O2 and a jar of water :smile:

Hmm interesting. Would the algae harm the cakes in any way?

Anyone have any info??? Cuz there is tons of algae in the perlite. Its starting to grow up the walls of the container too. Not too concerned with the cakes as they are bout flushed out but for future reference??????

Mushrooms don't really benefit from extra O2 anyway. I'm sure what the algae is telling you is not to use perlite with chemical plant fertilizer in it.
