spawning.. and then spawning again - new idea?

Example..
Take 5 colonized 1/2 pint BRF/vermiculite jars and spawn them to 6 litres of horse manure. (roughly a 1:6 spawn ratio)
Incubate until the manure is fully colonized.
Instead of fruiting it, break up the colonized substrate, and spawn it AGAIN. (6 litres into 36 litres).
Anybody try this??

Those expansions are small enough to where you should have no problems. Stamets talks all about this in one of his books. You can do some pretty crazy spawn runs.
The only thing you have to be extra careful with is your contams. Because one little contam increases by just as much as your spawn run. So sterility is of maximum importance when doing spawn expansions like this.

Sure though if you are going to spawn something else its probably easier to start with grain. It breaks up easier and has more inoculation points.

Thats the way that is decribed in The Mushroom cultivator book for mutiplying grain spawn. I would think spawining grain would be mych more practical since it breaks up into smaller pieces than manure. Same idea any how.

Do a search for the term "super spawning". That's essentially what you've described.
