Hey, welcome. You should take some time to read some of the threads here (lots of good info), FAQs and rules thread, if you haven't already. Some good info can be found there. Are you new to hunting? Good luck either way.

Im from the Northwest. Been a few times and have only found a couple of non active copes. I have only found one cube in the wild before and was wondering if anyone has hunted further north.

I've found some in late febuary through march when it was raining good with cooler temperatures but its been way too dry lately and I havent been able to find anything for a while. If it rains I'll definitely go wednessday or thursday and I'll update this thread with any cubes if i find some.

try today, the sun is out and might have dried up some of the excess water, Not to mention the humidity is creeping up fast.....
i didnt waste my time these last few days because the amount of rain the northshore got was ridiculous.....i wish i had time to go tommorrow like that guy said in the above post, the gulf patterns are looking promising

I made a quick hunt tonight and found about 10 cubes in 30 minutes before my flashlight crapped out on me. Most of them were kind of small and hadnt opened up yet. If i get a chance, i'm going to try to make another hunt tomorrow whenever they are fully matured and i have a better light.

really? where are you from? Im right between NO and BR and last year they didnt pop up until late May. But its been hotter this year so I figured they would be out earlier, I don't know. Maybe I just need to find a better field or maybe the drought shut down the myc for a little while?

I'm guessing that you know that cubes only grow in manure, mostly from cows. But damn if it is a cube with a 6 inch cap that would be a monster, but its possible.
I went today for a little while and found a few nice sized cubensis but nothing to brag about. I'm going to try to hit a couple new fields soon, with all this rain that we're getting they're going to be everywhere.

I found a couple this past weekend in this one field that I havent been to in a couple of years. I would have stayed longer and searched the back part of the field but I got nervous and took off b/c there was to much traffic up and down the road and I hate having to leave my truck on the side of the road like that.

I went out last night outside of BR, and I found about 10 cubes. I think I might go out again tonight, all that I found were pretty small, and I had a little run in with the popo.

Hey all. Ive been watchin these boards for a couple years but finally need to now post up. I used to hunt cubes in va where im from, and i moved down here to LA after the storm for relief work. What do you think about the cubes around new orleans? the mercury level in the water is 140 times the safe level and the arsenic is 3. but the rains come from the west? and i dunno are they straight? also anyone in baton rouge or lafayette area that wants to hook up and just point out some fields i would really appreciate it. i have no idea how yalls police and farmers are about that shit. one love

Dont get caught, by cops or farmers. Unless they are really old or dumb. Farmers / cops know what people do in cow pastures. I dont know about the new orleans area, but im sure if you drive about 30 min away, your bound to see cow fields all around.

Yeah, I almost got busted in Denham Springs a couple days ago, I had to post up in a field for about an hour and wait for the popo to leave.

Come to think of it, I almost got busted too... I was jumping the fence to exit the field because I didn't see any mushrooms, and as soon as I'm walking out the driveway they had, I seen a sherriff coming down the road... Luckily he didn't stop, but if he would have, I would've told him a BS story that shit wasn't going right at home and I just needed to take a walk.
Come to find out, a bunch of the shrooms we've been seeing are the ones that grow on the cow shit, that are kinda fully white on top and dark black underneath... I don't know if they're active or not cuz after riding around and looking a bit more, I found some cubies growing... if I'm not mistaken, a couple of them were probably about 5" in diameter...
Found a total of 20 of them, made a tea, and 8 people tripped pretty good off of em.
Hope to find some more, and I wish the best of luck to all of ya!
I'm near Abbeville, if anyone cares to know...

Never got busted. Just never park by the field. Always go in the morning(looks less suspicious). I still havent found any cubes, however we did find a couple of copes so looks like the season is just around the corner.
