999C CastleSybron Corp. Steam-Pressure based Sterilizer 115V 12.8 amps 250 degrees F- 15 PSI 270 degrees F - 27 PSI Chamber: 8.5" dia. x 15"
Now i've heard a lot of people saying that "dry heat" wont work because it'll carmelize your substrate and such but does anyone know if a regular medical autoclave that uses steam work? Im picking this up tommorow and need to be sure it will be useful for this application.

As Steven Tyler of Aerosmith would say...
HELL Yeah !!!
The rest of us use PC's cuz Autoclaves cost more, but work
better,
Kinda like the difference between a crack Ho

a PC is a little and cheap autoclave... its the same principle, hot + wet = dead
so if u have a auto clave, even better

As an aside I was in a campus bio lab picking up bacterial cultures for a lesson I was teaching and the lady who ran the lab was explaining some procedures to me, and while I was painfully aware already, I let her do her schpeel.
"So because you're working with bacteria, you can't just throw it away, you have to sterilize it first."
"Oh, ok cool, so I can just throw it in a pressure cooker and bring it back to you guys clean and sterile?"
"No, that won't work, its not the same. You'll need to return it to the lab so we can throw it in the autoclave"
Now, I wasn't working with Thermos aquaticus or anything like that, so I kinda chuckled on the inside, but I wasn't about to get into it with this lady.
PS, thats a sexy autoclave. So much sterilizing at once...
