hey guys, are there any known poisonous look alikes to the dung loving cubies? reason i ask is that, on a recent hunt, i found two shrooms growing out of a fresh pile of cow poop. At a first glance i thought it was definately a P.Cub pair. However, its been 4 or 5 hours since picked and they show no signs of bluing( i know i know...bad sign) except for the stains on the paper bag that i put them in. The water that seeped through made a ring of dark fluid and on the edge a purplish blue color. the caps are about 5 inches across, fully matured(possible too matured) with cracked flatish caps, still retain aslight golden colored center. The gills are a chocalate brown, and the stem is thick, not hollow (brown spongy inside). The color of the veil that tore away was a dark color hard to distinguish. and each shroom weighed in a 60 grams apiece. They smell good.
I will most likely deem it not worth the risk. But for future reference i would like to know if these are actually what i think they are, and what im used to finding.
could it be that the shrooms were active but lost all the magic becuase of the time in the sun( they were definatly more than mature.

Your description sounds consistent with cubensis. Snap the cap off from the stem and lay it face down on a piece of paper. After a min. or two, the stem where you broke it off should be an unmistakeable blue, and after an hour or so, the cap should be dropping purple spores.
