Straw Pinning too early?!

Ok so I have had my straw mixed up and colonizing for about a week now. I took a look at it 5 minutes ago and I can see knots and a small pinhead starting to form. I'm planing on casing it today. I was just wondering if this will fuck up the colonization of the casing layer? Ive never had this happen before so I just thought id ask. Thanks in advance. E

Ok so I was thinking, maybe I should scrape the knots and pins off, then case it. It would "reset" the myc and make it grow through the casing perhaps? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

i think it would be better to just case it and let it do its thing. Scraping the pins off could do more harm then good but thats just my guess.

In my opinion, straw does just fine uncased. If it's fruiting, I'd skip the casing and let it go. You can always use a syringe to add a bit of moisture later during the flush. RR

Well i have a 55 gallon rubbermaid, thats why i want to case it. There really is only like 1 or 2 pins, but ALOT of of knotting. I think im going to case it just to be safe.

Id listen to RR on this one, he knows his shit! plus if you cover up those knots your only going to make them grow up through that casing layer. I would just let them go, then case after the 1st flush is done, if at all.
