I have been reading for some time about growing but I just have a few questions. ANY adive and experience is more than welcome and very much appreciated. Please feel free to correct me if I might have gotten anything mixed up.
1. Which strain do you recommend for newbies that will produce a much enjoyable experience and also of course a above average yield?
2. Do you recommend using this casing method? http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/23805 Or should I just stick the cakes directly into the fruiting chamber w/ the verm and casing mix??
3. For my Terrarium which method do you recommend? Money really isnt a problem. Also if you have instruction or a site I can visit that would be very very helpful. I know there are many sites I can just google but Id just like to see everyones opinion to help me make a better decision. I would like to make my own for the hands on experience but I also would not mind buying one online if it isnt that expensive.
Thanks =D

I'd recommend picking up some dry horse manure and doing a tub grow...... just more rewarding in the end.
Cubensis potency and growing conditions are pretty much the same for all strains.

if money is not really an option don't even bother with cakes. just go straight into grain. get a pressure cooker and quart jars. and wild bird seed OR rye whatever is easyer in your area. also get some poo. strains dont' really matter its all a personal prefference thing. some have a dendancy for bigger fruits. but the others will still have th same yeild just more smaller guys. substrate and conditions matter most about potency and yeild NOT strain.
so id say do casings or a monto tub or both. grain spawned to horse poo. check out the growing section of this site to understand how to do this.
the only way to really be sure what characteristics you will get is to clone. this is beucase a multipsore inoculation from a spore syrings or LC is actually hundreds of 'strains' every pair of spores that germinates has different dna. thus people clone, but you dont' have to and most people do not.
my personal pref is cambos. nice visuals but then thats what i like. peopel like different experiences and then people just react differently.

Same link as in my signature http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5078282/an/0/page/0 Everything there is worth while reading.
Aged horse poo is pretty much the BEST substrate for growing mushrooms next to custom made mushroom compost. With horse poo you get BIG yields. You get and you get POTENT shrooms. nuff said?
In that link you will find another link to more detailed information that makes poo so good.

Im understanding a little more. Grain to Poo? Have not read about this yet but I will. Is the smell factor bad?
Also you said all have about the same yield just some bigger some smaller. I'd like to get a high yield of alot of lil guys. Recommendation?
thanks for the input

i have the tazmanians. they are my favorite strain, and oh so butiful. i like the visuals and happy thing. also, the Golden Teachers are my second favorite. As for buying a fruiting chamber, don't do it. make your own so you can A. save money, B. learn as you go, and C.customize it as neccissary. its not hard once you have the knowledge to build one. here is an easy one...
10 gallon fish tank with flourescent lid 1 dual output air pump 1 single output air pump 1 reptile humidifier 1 bag perlite 1 or 2 tempurature color strips
hook the dual air pump to the humidifier, center the humidifier output in your tank both horizontally and vertically. put 3 inches of perlite in bottom with 1 1/2 inches of water in it. put the single output air pump on plate and place inside the aquarium on the perlite. make sure that the air tube from the "internal" air pump hangs down outsid of the aquarium lower than the bottom of it.(i also use a tempurature color strip just above perlite level.
bam, and you have a generally cheap, and automated fruiting chamber that you never have to mist, and that sucks out Co2 automatically. (there are many other ways, but i like this the best...

you know whats just as qutomated but has a ton less stuff? MONO TUB haha
rubbermade. 4 holes with filter over each to get that co2 out. thast it. self contained humidity chamber.
i still have an fc for casings and the odd poop cake i make. rubbermaid with perlite in the bottom. thats it.

yea, but were i live i can never keep the humidity up enough with a mono, i always got tons of aborts, and the temp is low here too. my new set-up i get mycelium growing off the cakes straight into mid-air...oh, and the shrooms!!
.....but that IS a hell of a lot cheaper.
