what if you leave an inoculated jar for a long time. around 4 months. what would happen?

im using grain jars and inoculated them and will be leaving for awhile would the mycelium inside the jars rot. id be gone for atleast 4 months

It probably won't rot, but leaving colonized substrate in jars for months at a time is not helping you any. I've done it a variety of ways, including refrigerating, but the stuff never seems to keep.

put the colonized jars in the fridge they will keep much longer, Diver Im not trying to undermind you here but Im fruiting poo cakes right now that have been in the fridge for 3 months and the shrooms off of them kicked my ass, they even made my friend piss on himself, its a long story I wrote a trip report about it.

I believe you, I'm referring more to storing "spawn" than a substrate which is going to be directly fruited off of. Spawn that's kept around for that long seems to go to hell, performance wise. That's not to say it can't be used though.
