My 55 gal. drum

This drum cost me $47. $20 the drum + $15 cover metal sheet, $12 bolts, nuts, secutity valve. Everything to make: the drum rack, drums floors and 90 degrees metal angles were taken at the scrap yard.
 the drum rack support
 the rack over the burner
 the drum on the rack
 third floor (in the drum)
 second floor
 the cover
You can see on the photo no.3 the size of the gaz thank. You can use it for 2 drums at a time. It's $65 to fill that thank and ster.-past. between 350-400 6Pds. bags for an average of $0.18 per bag. The empty thank cost me $100.
I work with 144 Pds sawdust sub. per drum at a time per 2.45 hours.
Hopping you've enjoyed this thread

Excellent, Micololo! Thanks for the pics of yr hardware.
I will find some grillwork to make shelves of. That'll multiply the barrels payload big time.
Does the 'top floor' rest directly on the sawdust bags below it? I'm curious that you use aluminum foil to cover the racks. Avoiding punctures?
I did what I has signs of being my first successful straw paz'ing: Copelandia spawn is jumping off to the straw now after a week. No funky smells yet.
These guys call for no air exchange, and thrive in high CO2. I've put about twenty inocculated freezer bags (with punctures) into a garbage bag lineing a cardboard box. Does that sound right?

Sounds like someone is actually putting to use what everyone has dissed me for talking about for years. Normally when i bring it up everyone says you're going to kill yourself!
But you know what I'm talking bout! Good for you. How many bags can you fit per level 9 or so?
So i guess all it takes to make people understand is a few pictures.......
Good for you!

Does the 'top floor' rest directly on the sawdust bags below it? No, look on the second shelf photo, you'll see 90 square metal angles welded on the side walls of the drum. The shelve sit on these angles. I'm curious that you use aluminum foil to cover the racks. Avoiding punctures? Aluminium foil is to protect the bags from rust or durt. The steam is traveling in the drum between the shelves and the sidewalls of the drum.

When pressure is starting to built, it goes out naturally between the cover and the drum. The valve is only for security. If you open the valve while boiling there is a pressure who blow steam out for about 18 inches for 2 or 3 seconds How do you control the security valve? You don't really have to use it. You could built one without valve. I've never seen pressure built up in the drum but?sorry mate but i'm afraid to turn on that monster!!!

OK, a bit of welding (or some rack system) to hold two layers of bags stacked above each other.
Gotta' friend who can do the 90 degree brackets.
The pictures were invaluable.

The $.18 is what it costs him in energy to sterilize each bag. You can get bags for around that price too, but you'll have to buy 1000 or more.
