Do pet stores treat their finch seed with anything to stop fungus growth? For some reason my birdseed jars do not seem to be colonizing after more than a month.

How did you sterilze it and what was the water content?

I followed ryche tips for the birdseed substrate. soaked birdsed in distilled water overnight, and then mixed with the rest of the ingredients, hardly added any extra water. Sterilized in PC for about 1 1/2 hours. multispore injection when jars were completely cooled. Incubated at 83f for about a month and a half now, and now growth.
