Something occurred to me, a question I can't answer...

I know that the chemicals of marijuana are fat-soluble, and are stored in fat cells. I also know that they, as a result, linger in the body and in the bloodstream.
What I don't know is this: If the chemicals remain in the body and the bloodstream, obviously you have some level of tolerance for them, but do they continue to exert any subtle effects on you?
Also, I have to wonder... is a person's overall tolerance to these chemicals a function of their body's overall saturation with these chemicals? (I.E. the levels present in fat cells, and the average amount that remains present in the bloodstream).
I guess ODD would be better for this, but the Pub seems a better place to discuss it casually. I want random people's opinions

I would say that no, the toleration issues are not in a causation relationship to saturation of fat cells. naturally, one would assume that the two have a positive correlation. there are other factors such as experience of the smoker. I could not smoke in two years and smoke a blunt with someone who has been smoking for a month or two and has a higher saturation level but is not as accustomed to the familiar feelings of being high and through perception seem higher even when that may not be the case objectively.
And as far as the continuation of subtle effects, thats a good question...If i remember correctly it is the Delta 9 chemical that is majorly responsible for the effects of pot. I would assume that after being processed and received by the brain the chemical is converted to something similar that stays in the body. It could also be that the chemicals responsible for getting you high are filtered to the brain while the other chemicals remain present in the fat cells and blood stream...All of that is mere speculation though seeing as it's been about 4 years since I have read anything about the diff chemicals in weed and how and why they affect the brain.

"THC is metabolized first to Hydroxy-THC (THC-OH), which is active, then to the inactive 11-nor-delta-9-THC Carboxylic acid (THC-A or THC-COOH)."
"Because THC is stored in body fat, long term use of marijuana results in the storage of THC in the body. As THC leaches out of the body fat, it is metabolized by the liver into THC-OH, then into THC-A."
according to this, THC stored in fat will continue to be broken down. Your liver will slowly metabolize THC saturated fat cells into the two metabolites, keeping in mind that THC-OH is active (how active this compound is, im not sure)

Hrm, so first it's broken down into a different active chemical, and then that chemical is broken down into an inactive one?
Then it would sound as though there could possibly be very subtle effects for a short time after saturating the fat cells. Due to tolerance, and the low amounts involved, that duration would probably be very short though... I suppose.
