Hey guys,
I seem to have developed allergies this season. Are there any medicinals used to treat allergies like pollen?
Many Thanks, Andrew

I know there are pills etc, I will not tolerate taking them. That's why I am looking for options. It's not a big deal for me really, more concerned about my partner- she can't stand being around animals and outside etc without taking pills

makaveli8x8 - what an idiot.
Andrew47, I can totally relate to where you're coming from, and I am currently on a similar quest. After a couple of years of regular antihistamine pill popping and steroid nasal inhalers, I am sick of this crap. I read that reishi mushroom is beneficial for allergy sufferers. Unfortunatley reishi is not avaliable where I live...luckily I'm going to Canada pretty soon so I will grab some over there. Check www.reishi.com. I think some of the other polypores (Maitake, Turkey tail, etc) may also be good.
Also apparently down at most local 'herbal health' shops, there is a good selection of herbal extracts used to combat allergy.
Man allergy sucks huh!! I can't wait for the day I have a non-pharmaceutical solution to this pain in the ass problem.

Not a mushroom, but some people report that eating local honey or bee pollen helps with their allergies. You might find that more acceptable than taking drugs. I don't know if there have been any scientific studies on this.

I think it depends on the type of your allergy. I am allergic to many airborne particles, not just pollen. I would imagine that the honey may be related to pollen but perhaps not other things such as dust, spores, etc.

Reishi and Agaricus are both excellent for helping out with allergies, as well as taking large amounts of MSM as a supplement. If you want quality mushrooms preprepared try: MushroomScience.com, DragonHerbs.com or Teagarden.com, all of which carry premium mushrooms and other tonics in the case of the latter 2.

We carry premium mushrooms! - but the main one I give for allergies is cordyceps if you can get some. About 3 "00" capsules 3x/day or 3/4 teaspoon 3x/day should make a fast and big difference.

there is a local mushroom my herbalist friend uses successfully to treat allergies, its a relative of the reishi and looks very similiar, the reishi, ganoderma lucidum, probably has similiar effcts
the mushrooms around here is called ganoderma tsugae
he uses this in combination with nettles, urtica dioca, to treat allergies effectively

I have the same problem with hay-fever. I have heard that a tea made of stinging nettles, lecithin and honey (preferably local to the area) is excellent for treating the symptoms. I have yet to try it myself but have heard good things from lots of people, I'm not sure on exact ratios of the ingredients so you'd have to look that up. I dont want to have to rely on modern pharmaceuticals and would like to be completely self-sufficient so have been looking for something natural to substitute for each pharmaceutical product I need.
I also burn in the sun really easily and would like to find a natural sunblock, I have read that zinc oxide and titanium oxide are good up to SPF 40 but am yet to find a natural source that can be made anywhere I am without mining the metals.
Hope this helps.
