Some years they fruit in the spring, sometimes they don't. I didn't find a single one last year. The spring before that I found about 1/3 of what I'd find during a fall season.

With weilli, it's hit or miss in the spring. Some patches fruit, some don't Fruitings in the spring are freak fruitings for sure. Not big finds by any means and it's directly related to the amount of rainfall we get and how harsh the temp get.

While phishhead is new to weilii hunting, he is among one of our best weilii hunters. He's probably got some tips for you as far as spring goes

If there is going to be a spring season for weilii this year, it's probably starting between now and the next week or two. I'm already starting to see Psathyrella velutina popping up and they're an indicator species that weilii may be growing.

Last year I think i was the first to post a find and it was the very beginning of june, but only 2 and i didnt find but one other fruit in any other patches until july. As gumby said it all has to do with how much rain and hot temps we get early in the season, if it rains alot over the next two mnths i suggest you get out and look but if not then its a big waste of time. It was july before i found any significant numbers last year but who knows they act so different year to year you cant ever tell where or when they will pop up.

Hell Yea Weilii have a spring season. I found a huge haul of over 100 after it had been raining for almost 7 days straight with dark clouds, etc.... I have pics of it do a search and check the date.

Weilii will grow whenever the temperatures reach and maintain the appropriate range to see them through their growing period. They are generally very thirsty mother fuckers and will not grow big enough to be spotted without several days of CONSISTENT rain OR HIGH humidity. They don't like sunlight too well and will stop growing when their cap reaches full light usually.

They grow above the grass or pine during periods of darkness caused by overhead dark clouds for days at a time. Here in georgia the fall and winters are filled with darkness and humidity. This doesent mean the occasional spring showers/fronts cant emulate these conditions temporarily to allow one to find more than an appetizer for this fall.

Check out my site at http://www.weilii.com and join the forum! I have a feeling this season's gonna be great, and for the people who know me like corey, I have my own SUV now!

I went to st thomas and camped out ontop of the island... Despite my entire family being poor all my life, the land is priceless.
I was chased by haitians in the main city charlotte amalie when my girlfriend and I got some cocaine for free in a bar and mixed it with alcohol, to form a stronger drug. With such confidence at 2am, we walked the 4-5 or so miles down to the beach where the african slaves lie like lions waiting on tourist prey.

The war isen't on drugs... the war is on the causes that influence people to abuse drugs. drug-abuse is a by-product of the system and much like radioactive waste occurs from utilizing nuclear power, drug addicts with drug-problems will need to be properly disposed of, like the decaying radioactive waste produced from nuclear energy. -i2ancid

Well I always say just keep looking whenever and that way you will know as soon as they start to fruit. Im gonna search occasionally throughout the year just to be sure, like I2ancid if the conditions are right they will fruit.
