All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti

Found this and thought some of you might like it.

There are three types of succulents:

Caudex or Root Cacti and Succulents
These are thick-rooted or thick-stemmed succulents that produce seasonal leaves. They will lose these leaves if the conditions become undesirable. Moisture loss is prevented in these particular succulents due to their swollen bases and their large root systems that are well below the surface.

Leaf succulents
?Thin may be in, but fats where it?s at!?

Leaf succulents consist of plants with swollen leaves that store water. These plants will shrivel up and appear to be dying when there is no water available and plump up when they receive moisture. They consist of fleshy plants that range from the well-known ?Jade? plant to other decorative fleshy leafed succulents.

Stem succulents
This one always comes as bit of a surprise as it consists of the Cactaceae family or the more well known name, Cactus. Yes, cacti are succulents. These plants retain water in their swollen stems, as they have no leaves. Cactus or ?Kaktos? is the ancient Greek name for a prickly plant or thistle. Carlos Linnaeus (1707-78) who created a universal system of botanical names gave them their names. Most plant names are based on Latin and Greek; this system is still in use today. Cacti have been around for centuries, with the first ?private? collections dating back to the 17th century. They also have been used over the centuries for a wide variety of purposes.
