It's basically the story line from the first game, but with a female lead instead of Harry.
The thing is though, they took multiple elements from the other Silent Hill games to better tell the story.

i cant wait to see it. the director and screenwriter arent just hired slackers to convert a videogame to a movie. they know what theyre doin. (brotherhood of the wolf and pulp fiction are a couple movies in their resumes)

Well guys, I saw an early showing of it this morning.
I can honestly say that this is the BEST sceenplay adaptation of a video. Ever.
It was realllllllly gorey in a few parts too. A guy kept getting up and leaving when it would really start up.

I loved the movie. It was slow in parts, and a couple parts disappointed me (the nurses looked like they were doing a fucking interpretive dance ).
But, it had a pretty damn good plot structure, and the suspense was well managed. The gore was superb. The movie was not littered with gibs, but when something gory happened, it was very satisfyingly horrible.

I watched this last night.
Very satisfying. It had some problems, but all around I was very impressed. Finally a decent video game to movie port.
one spoiler question:
why wouldn't the dark one open the door for rose to leave at the end?

I asked a question god damnit. Is it just to leave an obvious possibility for a sequel or did that actually make sense?

Crumudgeons unite!! Then again, I never got busted for getting high in private, so i do kinda see the point. I mean, it ain't like the horizon expanded. I never played the game, but i want to see this flick. My gf apparently really liked the games, and she started talking about the movie as soon as the trailers came out. Looks like a good time to me.
