I know it sounds silly, but make a habit of holding your nose shut with your fingers and trying to breathe throughout the day. Do it at inconspicuous times when nobody is looking and all that. If you get in the habit of it you'll do it in your dreams. Only difference is that when you're "awake" you can't breathe with your nose plugged, and in your dreams you can (most of the time). This is a clear sign that you are dreaming, and makes it easy to shape your dreams.

For a good period of time I was very very obsessed with lucid dreams and had a number of techniques I used to induce them. http://www.consciousdreaming.com/lucid-dreaming/ offers a list of techniques which definitely increase your odds of having a lucid dream.

i used to lucid dream a lot when i was younger. around when i started smoking was when i figured it out and did it almost every night. I dont lucid dream as much as i used to.. probably because of all the smoking. but next time i do, ill try some DMT or a large quantity of LSD
