starting from print

I wound up getting a spore print from mush mush, whilst making my syringes, I couldn't seem to scrape the spores off quickly, so I threw the entire print and the paper in the small jar (40ml for 3 syringes) I hope that the paper was sterile enough! did I seriously screw up, should I even try to innoculate? mistakes happen even stupid ones I guess, can always try again!

The paper is quite sterile so I would try inoculating with the syringes.

If you touched the print, it's probably contaminated. However, if you use the solution fast enough, you'll have a smaller chance of that contamination ruining your experiment. There will be less bacteria or mycelium from a contaminant to compete against.

The inside of the paper was surely sterile but the outside was likely handled by both you and the vendor and stands a good chance of being contaminated.....I would try to avoid dropping it in next time.

In the meantime, good luck with what you got.

Scraping spores is easy when using the right tool. I use an X-Acto handle with the following blade:

It's razor sharp and its curved design makes it perfect for easily removing spores from glass, foil, and card stock. X-Acto makes every blade that you could possibly need for mushroom cultivation, better than anything Fungi Perfecti sells, that's for sure [IMNSHO]!
