Portola Redwoods Hike

Well, I always liked seeing pictures of people's hike and adventures so I figured I would post a few of my own. These are from a recent hike in Portola Redwoods national park/forest. Beautiful place nested in the hills near san jose. I was sitting around in my dorm with nothing to do when everyone was gone so I hopped into my car and went looking for this place. It was really secluded and hard to find, with a really sketchy road going there. But it was well worth it, besides one ranger at the station the entire place was empty and I was free to wander about as I liked, taking some kind of cool pictures as I went. Hopefully someone will enjoy these, peace : ) Great place if anyone ever gets the chance to visit there, there's some camping and it's not too expensive (just like 6 dollars for paking or something if you're going to hike. I guess in the river they remove some of the bridges so no every trail is open but there is at least a few hours worth of trails if you're interested. Anyone else into hiking/backpacking? feel free to throw up some pictures if you'd like, of if anyone would like any hi-res version of these you can just shoot me a pm of leave something here in the thread and I would be more than happy. I don't have my car up here anymore so it's been a while since I have gotten to get in any other hikes, I need to convince my friends to go more often or meet some people who are more interested. Oh well, hope everyone is having a good night/morning

Thanks for sharing. Although that second paragraph was the hardest I have ever tried to read. It kept moving going down, and down, and then down some more. So much for a "few" pictures
I love camping/hiking. No pictures to share though.

Nice picture collection! That yellow slug looks like a banana slug. They are cool looking.
Did you pick any of the mushrooms you photographed? None of em look active or like any of the common choice edibles. Interesting anyway.

Thanks guys, yeah it went from a few pictures to a lot more than I was originally going to post.
No actives, and I'm no expert on edible/medicinal ones so I wasn't about to try picking anything else.

The availability of massive amounts of high quality marijuana wouldn't have played any part in your decision would it have?

Ahhhhhh, yes, one of the pleasures of living in Humboldt is GREAT weed at low prices. I have lived here 7 years and have never seen anything but GREEN. But then we pay $3.17 for gas...and climbing rapidly. So we stay home and smoke!!

Do you go to school there? Or have any comments about it? And, whats the weather like?
I think the U of MT is just the wrong school for me. Allthough Missoula is AWESOME and the people here are great, the school is just too big, and the winter is too long.

No, i don't go to the college here. I'm retired from the restaurant industry. The college here is a great school from what I've heard. Depending on classes taken, of course. Also, the town that the college is in is Very liberal, and lots of tree-huggers and hippies. ( I am latter, not former ) Politics aside, peolple are very nice and friendly, and there is lots of Green around, and if you wre a student....... the weather is mild with lots of rain. The area that the school is in is one of the foggiest places in the U.S, In fact, they use the fog to train pilots to land. Come join us here behind the redwood curtain!! Gas today= $3.23 and still climbing!
