Aborting my Ecuador on hay grow
    #5532620 - 04/19/06 07:27 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

The hay was slow to colonize, so I put on some gloves and explored the inside of the block of hay and BAM, trich. I think the grow went wrong for many reasons:

-low spawn ratio, and the jars were G2G, so were already one generation old. not all the kernels even fluffed back up once spawned to the hay, which means the myc was pretty much dead
-not washing out the hay enough; it still reeked of leaf juice (tannic acid?)
-being too ambitious; I was trying to do a crazychemist-esque grow, but with a controversial substrate

So, I'm starting again, but this time with tenn stud, and with some smaller backup bulks on the side. I knocked up 9 grain jars and 1 LC jar with Orissa India spores from lil' shop on saturday. Funny, no germination yet but we'll see...

Sometimes LC's take a little while to germinate. Keep it at incubation temps and make sure you are agitating the jar daily to aerate the solution. Lil Shop is a good supplier. You don't hear a whole lot about them around here though
