sorry for the shitty picture resolution

Damn coir...i took this out of the incubator when the surface looked about 20% colonized. It continued to devour the coco until there was not one grain of casing left. When it was 100% colonized I got scared it would die and get hard...so I sprinkled a light coating of casing on top. This was yesterday morning. Since then it grew very slightly...but the growth I noticed looks more rhizomorphic...is that the word? There are spots at the bases of newly cased material that look as though tiny strings of are reaching up. Yesterday the surface looked alot smoother than it does now. The surface looks like the surface of coral...with some strings here and there. Any suggestions?

I get that when I case with coir too. Just leave it alone and let nature take its course, it will do its thing if you stop playing with it. Or you could try a cold shock in the fridge over night.

First off coir needs to be initiated BEFOREany myc breaks out on the surface. Coir formulations also need to be low in coir and higher in verm for best results. Cold shocking is also an option as Roker suggested.

Oyster Shell "Flour" $2 for 1lb. a hell of a deal Not what is overlay but rather what overlay is Gas Exchange vs. FAE "We all have priorities. I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"
