I read some trip reports on erowid and other sites, and they just seem made up....
I think it is stupid, but I am wondering if anyone here has experimented...

They arnt fake it can make you hallucinate. That doesnt mean it definatly will but im quite sure youl have auditory hallucinations if you listen to music. Ive done it many times and hallucinated many times. Its a very miserable expeirience so you should mix it with another drug. The best drugs ive mixed it with are dxm and salvia.

ive done DPH several times yes it can make you halucinate if your mind allows. one thing to be concerned about tho is its going to make you feel like you have the mental capacity of a 5year old. and i second combined with DXM its definatly a more managable trip kills the tired prety well.

It made my floor ripple like water, and any little bits on the carpet seemed to scuttle about like insects. All the angles of the wall lines went fucked up , and sometimes if i stared at this cushion on the floor it would disappear.
It was cool when the carpet started bubbling like a swamp, but once i thought it had worn off i got a aural hallucination which freaked me out abit because i wasn't expecting it ( i never got any when i was tripping ).
Then when i tried to get to sleep i had this awful delirious insomnia, this is the reason i will never try it again. Was the most painful nervous feeling ive ever had.
Thing is its a really rough drug, it dosent feel clean when your high off it. I thought it was worth a try, but ill never do it again !!

yea i have taken it a couple times... the last time was horrible and i wont do it again.. My whole body felt uncomfortable, felt like i was being tickled all around, in a bad way... the times i did it before this were crazy!! i had full conversations with people who werent there. this went on for hours... picture tripping, but not questioning that its real or not... on dramamine, you dont think to yourself whether the people you are talking to are real or fake. you just think they are real.. overall they werent good experiences.
It was much more fun watching my friends doing it and messin around with them a little. SOOO FUNNY... we videotaped my one friend. i sat behind him and called his phone. he had no clue he was talking to me! another time, my one friend got SO fucked up... we went to my other friends car. Instead of trying to open the door, he tries to climb in the window and fails to do so. the he says "Fuck it, Im no hungry anymore!"

Diphenhydramine, or any of the tropane alkaloids from which it is derived (Datura, Brugmansia etc...) is a hardcore compound, reserved exlusively for the "hard cores."
The "trip" cannot be described as pleasurable, there is an increased need to urinate every 5 minutes followed by the inability to piss...
One's mouth is ridiculously dry to the point where liquid will not help... and there's an overall feeling of uncomfortable CNS stimulation...
On the subject of hallucinations: This is the real shit, no swirling colors or simple distortions.
It usually starts with blue bits of electrical "energy" which flow in and out of all available crevices... Also, objects have a tendancy to rapidly shake, which is really fucking weird. The whole experience is quite "dark" which is surely prone to make some people freak the fuck out.
The whole "trip" is basically awakened lucid dreaming. Expect your friends and family members to come through your room at 2:00 in the morning.
You'll also find your motor abilities quite affected.
Diphenhydramine sucks. It is kinda funny though, informing people of the amazing properties of benadryl.

Would there be any way to minimize the physical disadvantages of it? Because although it doesn't sound like a very enlightening, fun, or even cool trip... It just sounds horrifying, but it could be something possibly worth trying once. If you were prepared enough, I mean, sometimes you gotta experience the bad to really understand the good.

I enjoyed it, i just really really didnt like the after effects. I didnt get much of what you mentioned apart from the realistic hallucinations, but even these were not of people, though im sure this can happen.
Even when the floor turned to water i could sit back and watch it, knowing it was the effects of the drug. That was a unique sight for me and i found it quite amazing. Ill still never do it again though !!
I guess everybodys different

Yeah.
I'm talking about the overall experience. Sure there were portions which were fun and interesting, but the unpleasant physical symptoms coupled with an unbeatable anxiety/CNS stimulation made the experience a particulary shitty one. I've done it several times, and there were certain consistencies, such as the blue electrical currents and rapidly shaking objects.
When I talk about this substance, I do so from the perspective that people shouldn't be going out and getting all benadryl'd up. It's just unsafe, and I feel compelled to mention that the experience is not a traditional "psychedelic." This is a full-blown deliriant/hallucinogen/poison.
As for "learning" something, I learned to not want to take lots of benadryl. Or unisom, or anything related, at this time.

Im glad im not the only one who got the anxiety, thats the main reason i wont try it again, strangely it didnt come on till after most of the hallucinations had gone. I think if you took diphenhydramine alot and often you could do some real damage to yourself.
I never got the blue electrical currents and rapidly shaking objects, but like i said were all different.
but yeah, eating full boxes of Nytol's isnt a good idea.

All I have to say about it is that I tried it once and if you like paranoia hallucinations that you can't distinguish from reality and the like then go for it I guess.
Precautions: Best to be alone. Hide anything that could be dangerous unplug ur phone and be prepared to see things that make perfect sense at the time but are totally fucked up upon reflection. It isnt uncommon to smoke invisible cigs and phone people or think u did phone people.
I didnt find it very enjoyable.
