Some more psathyrellas

Found what I believe to be some Psathyrellas today. This first one I believe is P. velutina, which is one of the cooler looking mushrooms out there. I bet as summer approaches we'll have a lot of ID requests for this shroom.
Find 1 (P. velutina suspected) Cap: convex, somewhat rough or even scaly, nice golden color Gills: dark brown, mottled, some whiteness on the fringes. They were mostly adnexed to free Stem: audible snap to it, pretty much hollow. Also a ring of purple black spores deposited on the stem Spores: Purple-black Habitat: NC. Well used greenway path in grass and weeds, growing solitary

Find 2: I also suspect psathyrella, but I think a different species. These were much smaller, maybe 1.5 to 2 times the size of my thumb Caps: not as golden colored, irregular margins, umbo on top, very hygraphonous (is that the right word for fading color?). Cap was quite brittle Gills: Dark brown to black, not so mottled, also with whitish fringe on the edge Stem: Completely hollow, snapped like a stick of celery Spores: more black than purple black Habitat: same as above (but different spot) growing in a group but not tufted.

Anyway, if these are indeed Psathyrellas then I hope people will learn from this post as I bet these are starting to pop up all over the place.
Thanks, xmush

Yep, P. velutina, Found that this morning and had it identified here... it was the first mushroom I saw walking out of the house. You're right to think there will be a lot of people looking for an ID on them this summer.
Looks a lot like the ones I found, except I found it in a cluster, not solitary.

Yeah, the first one looks like velutina, and the other one like a different psathyrella species.

I believe it's hygrophanous - did a quick google on spelling. My books are still put away for the winter. I'll have to dust them off for this mushroom season. Been trying to spell words based on what I remember.
The snapping nature of the flesh, spore print, habitat, and hygrophanous nature of the caps are all important features for distinguishing psathyrellas.
