Starting a single strain culture from a healthy fruit
    #5529855 - 04/18/06 02:58 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

So after many sucsessfull grows I decided to try and get a single strain culture going by cutting a healthy fruit down the middle and taking the material in the core of the fruit and placing it into a BRF jar.

Will this work?

If so will it be strong and grow fast? Better fruit flushes?

Guess time will tell...

It'll work fine and fruit better flushes likely because there is only one strain without worry if the fruit is pretty fresh. If not you should go to agar first, then put a healthy wedge in the jar

Depending on how good your sterile technique is the method could work. I would prefer to go to agar medium on a petri dish. That way you can be sure you do not have contaminants. I use a glove box and sterile technique. My contamination rates are very low. Good luck

you can cut it in open air but teh ndunk in h202 and toss in your glovebox and then toss it in your jar. worked for me. make sure its not a random msuhroom though choose your best guy. remember you are trying to get the best of the best.

yea I just tossed it into a jar. under very un-sanitary conditions, how ever i have doen this many times and have not yet seen a contam in my jars.

guess Im just smart and good at keeping the air in my room free of contams b4 I knock up a jar in the open.

Any way. It was a good strong frut so it should come out good.

I don't understand. If you've done this many times, then don't you know if it works or not?
