so you say you're everything....
    #5527735 - 04/18/06 12:07 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

You started alone in the forest and random path stumbled upon your presence. People then appeared and helped you with things such as a compass, a map of the forest, and list of things to do. on your way of doing these random tasks, you find a mushroom and realize that none of these tasks really matters. the trees are so nice when you lay down. Ah! but you need food! so up you go, hunting, searching, and saving. a year passes by and you look at your list of things to do

you ingest another mushroom, and again, you are together, complete, full, everything. whats worth doing anything if you're only an actor playing out a role?

the mushroom wears off, only this time, you really look at your list of things to do

only

food
water

so off you go, finding food and water, surviving on your own. is this it? no! a cry for help! you look up and see a person stuck in the river. instincts kick in and you help. After saving the person, they say to you "thanks for your help" a feeling of fulfillment washes over you, more intense than any mushroom.

you reflect back on your experience, even knowing you are everything, you helped 'another' and feel really good about it.

If it is a game it's a neat little game isn't it?

for those that have experience what might be called "being one" if you're 'everything' so what? what now? this is some serious knowledge, whatcha gonna do with it?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Beautiful. And at the moment it seemed so true, I mean I really believed it. I also thought that we are stuck in this materialistic existence and that if we were to be really free, our feeling, everything would float together with our souls and everyone would know everything about everyone. It's as if this is the base code and then someone added all that stuff to make the world more interesting and test a few things...

Good question.

Satori could be an accomplishment or a goal that one sets one's mind on attaining. And having attained then what? Has one attained anything of value? Peace of mind? Is satori an ultimate goal in itself? or is it just another stage, or fork in the road?

Having reached this wonderful experience, does one continually try to recapture the experience?

even to recapture brings one into the future -- to the uncaptured

see thats the thing.  If its a goal, then what? Coming back from trips, there was always this invisible energy, tapping me on the shoulder.  'now what?'

do you only stay as an armchair philosopher, or do you do something else?  I always like to get to the root of things.

what can satori give? when the 'self' dies, can you make that a goal?  I don't think you can, but that's me   what happens when the 'sense of self' is let go?

aha!  you confront the utmost fear in everything...death!  if you can experience this by letting the most precious thing go (you) then what is left to fear?

when you come out of satori, the self takes the thrown, but this time you know its there. there's still things in the world that you want to change, and with this satori experience, we have a greater potential on acting on our inner most ideas on helping the world arround us.

why not use it?

what do you want to change?  if you see a lie, why not expose?  :sun:

But just what are the roots? It may take an armchair philosopher (lifetimes maybe) to discern them. You're young and have the energy to go out and conquer.

In this hypothetical disscussion we have the point of view from young energetic youth which may differ from the point of view of someone who's been there.

Things can't be discussed with the headstrong or those set in their ways.
Some people may argue that there is more than death to fear.

I know you suffered abuse which you say you came to terms with. I was never physicaly abused, it was more mental, except for that paddling by the headmaster in kindergarten, and the one by the housemaster later on which underscores the mental abuse I suppose.

And from this preconditioning we set out handicapped from the start in certain ways unbeknownest maybe only to ourselves.

Is the lie cultivated strictly for perverse pleasure?

(before proceeding I'll add the disclaimer that I'll probably always be dismaly unfit to attain or sustain the level of lucidity I atempt)

What is 'Perverse'?

One may say that wheat is cultivated because it sustains life.

Aside from some medical benefits weed is pleasurable; Is it perverse?

Terror and torture could be considered perverse because they are detrimental to the object.

If the Fisher King Is the God Saturn who enjoys devouring his children then I expect He will continue to set up conditions condusive to attaining His desire; In this manner we could consider Him set in his ways and not likely to give up His 'fishing' habits should Parsifal happen to arrive.

Edit:
Saturn
