cheap as shit alternative to Parafilm

I don't know if this is already common knowledge, but just in case it is not:

In my search for a cheaper and easier to come by alternative to Parafilm I tried cling(saran) wrap but found it too much of a pain in the ass to prepare, use, and remove.
Following a hunch, I went to the hardware store and dished out the $0.99CDN for a roll of "Teflon thread seal tape".

Jackpot!

Just as effective and easy to manage as Parafilm for ~1/40th of the price!

Just thought this info could help out some aspiring agar maniacs.

teflon tape, good Idea...
I just spray lysol inside a ziplock sandwich baggie and toss the dish in......

Thanks for passing the info.

Does anyone know about the permeability of teflon to gases?

I heard that parafilm was good because it allowed gaseous exchange.

The gas permeability of teflon(chemicaly PTFE) tape is low, as is that of saran wrap(chemicaly PVDC)

I use polyethylene(PE) wrap, identical to GLAD cling wrap. Polyethylene has a high permeability for gases, which does matter even at this stage.
