birthing in a simple terrarium

i got mixed feedback asaying when i should birth my most colonized cakes, some said itd be ok now, and some said wait a few more days. i decided on birthing 2 of the 6 now and letting the others colonize some more. I made this simple terrarium from ideas on almost every tek. transparent, spray sheild, moistened perlite lining the bottom 1/2" or so (theres a lip on the outer edge of the bottom that gives the appearance of deeper perlite), cakes birthed onto a paper towell. temps are low to mid 70's, im misting often and fanning the c02 out at the same time(well, i fan 1st, then mist of course). And the top seals on with 2 side clamps, should hold in humidity well. ive heard that when using damp perlite, misting isnt necessary as often because of the huge surface are of each little stone. so suggestions on misting intervals i should strive to go by would be appreciated.
also, the pic was taken at a top-down angle, giving the appearance of a shorter terraium height, its really about 10-12" at the back where the spray sheild is resting near the top, and probably 7-8" of height b/t the bottom and its low resting point.
one of the cakes has a lot of excess verm. on it, will this affect anything, and should i try to get it off using a q-tip or somethin else sterile, or will it grow uninhibited by it?
thanks everyone. heres the pic

edit: i just noticed the tops of the cakes look blue. theyre not. its the flash reflecting light off the top of em onto the blue spray sheild and back onto the top of em. they are very white

don't needa drip sheild havn't seen a pic with one of those in ages. don't need to mist much with cackes your perlite should be doing your humitification. mist after you fan to build up the RH faster.
did you dunk? roll in verm? some people put a patch of wet verm on top to add water. you might consider this.
EDIT: now just fan that baby 4 tims a dayish nad play th ol waiting game and GET STOKED im not stoked on putting my cake on something that gets wet. but thats just a personal oppinion deal

I actually use that EXACT SAME TUB. The problem I had with them is you can only fruit 2 or 3 cakes per, so you have to buy about 10 of them, and the small slots on the lid clamps allow too much moisture out. I just stuck a towel over them and all was good. I don't think the drip shield is necessary, though. Anyway, good job so far, and good luck.
