What a gorgeous day (Pics)
    #5525343 - 04/17/06 02:47 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I went for a bike ride today and I took some pictures:

(My back yard)

(A little pond 1)

(A little pond 2)

(Squirrel!)

(A park near the Oakland neighborhood in Pittsburgh)

(The place where they have a bunch of plants in a glass building)

(Flowers)

(Flower close up)

(The Cathedral of Learning. It should be called the cathedral of suicide because several people throw themselves off of it every year.)

My friend Larry made a feature length film in Pitt. with his friends, and in it one guy is thrown off that very building.

All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Usually it's college students who broke up with their significant others or that have a bunch of credit card debt who leap off.

It's much bigger and fancier than a greenhouse.  I think it's called an arboretum.

Yeah, we have a huge place like that, called the Botanical Gardens of Denver. Did you happen to go there when you were here? I guess it's kinda well known.

No, I actually didn't. I was going to go to some history museum but I think you told me not to go because the current exhibit sucked. I mainly hung out in Rocky Mountain National Park, ate at good restaurants (I ate at the Brazilian barbecue place downtown), went to bars, and got insanely drunk.

Yeah, I believe the exhibit was the Louis and Clark one.  Before that was the Egypt one, which was pretty cool.  They have one now all about anatomy and shit.  I heard you can actually touch body parts.  :smirk:
