Hit a parked car

i was in my friends neighborhood when i was backing up and stupidly forgot to look back, i shattered the glass blinker on the back of my car but little to no damage was done to the car i hit. a neighbor standing outside saw me do it and i am worried about him reporting me for leaving the scene of an accident. in florida what is the penalty for this? will i be arrested or can i just deny that it ever happened and say the damage on my car was already there?
by the way the only reason i left was because i had an ounce of dried cubensis in the car.

You should have stayed and filed a police report. They wouldn'y have searched your car, unless you look real suspicious. Seriously, you could have taken the shrooms into your friend's house before the cops even got there.

I took a leaving the scene of an accident charge to avoid a DUI, all I got was a day in traffic school.

Shitty man, real shitty, you should have left a note with your contact info at least.
Real shitty.

actually i would have definately gotten searched i have longe hairr and was waering a tie-dye grateful dead t-shirt.
i guuess i could go there as not to get fucked but as far as it goes so far there was no damage to the car so if the witness who didnt own the car didnt bother to call the cops i could just relax instead of face a charge of laving the scene of an accident along with paying for the cracked glass reflector on my car which was the only damage.

Yeah, that's definately some nice cleavage.
I was with a friend recently when he backed into a van, but he left a note. The police called him five days later saying someone reported him being involved in a hit-and-run.

I've been convicted for leaving the scene of an accident and it was not a big deal at all.
My situation was a little different though....
I was blackout drunk and driving for some unknown reason, I definitely hadn't planned on it and had parked my car literally a mile away so i wouldn't even be tempted, but apparently I stumbled my way to my car and tried to drive somewhere.
long story short, I wake up in a lawyers yard ACROSS THE STREET FROM A POLICE STATION, with a totaled car and absolutely no idea how I got there. So I get out, lock the door, and walk to my buddies house to sleep off the booze. I get a call the next morning from the cops, I told them I would turn myself in, but not without first contacting my lawyer, three days pass, I finally sit down with a detective and tell him I left because It was early in the morning and since there were no other cars involved I though it could wait.
Every single cop I talked too knew I was drunk, but they couldn't prove it, the judge asked if I had been drinking at the hearing and I pleaded the fifth I was convicted for leaving the scene and got one day of traffic school plus the cost of court costs and damages to the yard, no jail time.
I was extremely lucky, thankfully I didn't hit anyone else, I never drink and drive and don't know why I did that night, now I hide my keys in case I get anymore ideas.

It's only a felony if you kill or injure someone, if you hit a parked car its a non criminal traffic infraction.

go back tomorrow when your not tripping... tell them in person or leave a note apologizing for the damage. Also explain that you were in a rush or had an emergancy... i think they will be pissed but it shows that you didnt just flee.. If this happened to me, i would be pissed but also happy that you actually came back. hopefully they will be happy that you did the right thing.. Have a fun trip dude. now isnt the time to worry about the situation.

You story makes much more sence, if you situation happened to me, I would have done the same thing. But I would never leave after hitting someones vehicle for any other reason.

One time, I was in boston and I was pulling out of a parking space and I managed to whack the car in front of me. I felt really bad but fear simply took over and I drove off. I got up about 2 sets of lights and someone runs up to my car and is like, I got your license plate! You're in trouble buddy!
I got really scared and later went back but couldn't find the car so I just left. Nothing ever happened...but sometimes our fear instincts take over and we do irrational things. Thank god nothing ever happened, but I still felt like a dick. There really wasn't any damage to the person's car either, all that happened was my front headlight nailed his bumper (there was a pothole strategically placed right near his car.)
