Decided to leave the mushrooms in the jars, and they started to grow mushrooms, but they have pinkish purple mold growing on the cakes. Are the cakes destroyed? or can they be saved if taken out of the jars?

throw away! the sooner the better before they release spores all in your house and you have to bleach bomb the entire place. next time put them in a FC and be more sterile.

fc = fruiting chamber.

the only concern unless the mold is black (which is usually toxic to humans) is that your house will become a breeding ground for that contam and you will see it happen again and again in your next labors. if theres a lid on them leave it on and just carefully chuck it in the garbage outside.

There are some jars with what look like healthy mycellium? They are in a plastic bin. Should all of them be thrown out just to make sure?

i am going to tell you something that is going to cut your contams down a lot. keep a clean shop and you will run a clean shop. the sooner you throw those away the better. you might not beleive it but the mold can grow right through the filters and infect your neighboring jars. better luck next time ~thenewguy
