help with my car

I just replaced the clutch in my <redacted>. The problem I'm having is whenever I hold the clutch pedal in and then shift into a gear it starts making this steady noise, this is without letting the clutch pedal out. The clutch pedal also doesn't feel as tight as it should, I think I just need to bleed the line some more but I'm not sure. That should tighten the pedal up but i'm not sure about the sound it's making when I'm holding the pedal in while in a gear slot. Any ideas?

Forgot to add that it's a hydraulic clutch.

Sounds like your clutch may not be aligned right. Did you make sure the engine was tightened to the tranny? We replaced the clutch in this one car and it made a loud noise. The tranny wasn't tightened all the way. Does it go into gear? Does it pop?

I used a clutch alignment tool. It will go into any gear, it's a little hard getting it to pop into first though. The sound is only there when I move the stick into gear while still having the clutch pedal pressed. Everything was tightened to the torch(sp?) the manual specified.

Did you replace the throw out bearing aswell? When you kick in the clutch, the t/o bearing is forced to move at engine speed. If the bearing is bad, there will be alot of grinding.
Also, can you feel the vibration in your shifter when you shift? It might be your gears slightly grinding because the pressue plate is not fully pressed.

Reading your last post, it sounds like your first gear synchros are going bad. Usually gears 1 & 2 are the first to go. This will make it hard to get into gear because of the diffrence in rotating speed. Playing with engine RPM while the car is rolling is a way to test it out.
What kind of ford is it, and how many miles are on it?

Yeah, but I doubt it is the gear. I think it has to do with the pressure plate...I would have that checked out. As a matter of fact, I can almost guarantee that it's your pressure plate.

yeah sychros or maybe your clutch is just not disengaging completely, u said it felt loose, so even if u have it all the way down if theres air in the lines or something it maybe not be splitting totally.

I'm with you, I just think for some reason the clutch isn't disengaging completely.
