Should the lids be loosened? they are tight, with tape over the holes, and the aluminum foil over that.

That happens. PF suggests that jars with high water content may result in puddling at the bottom and jar lids should be kept loose. Watch out in the wet spots -- it is a good place for bacterium growth and the mycelium seems to hate it -- always colonizes around it.
