IS IT SAFE TO PC ON A CERAMIC TOP STOVE?

It says in the manual that came with my mirro-matic that you cant use it on a ceramic or glass topped type stove, because the bottom is concave. It "looked" flat to me, but I just wanted to make sure.

small pc's can be done but be careful- the weight of large fully loaded pc's has been known to break the ceramic/glass top.

Well, it said the only reason you cant is that it wont reach high enough pressure due to lack of contact with the bottom of the concave pot. I just figured there HAD to be someone out there with the same walmart cheapo PC that used it on the same type of stove.Im not afraid of it breaking the glass, cuz I have used a 22qt mirro on the same type of stove.

I would not unless your ready to replace the top, maybe not the first time but it CAN happen.
Get a 'hot plate' type thing, I have heard that they work.

Professional Chef Here.
The PC won't have contact with the flat surface of your range-top. If you take yourself out to somewhere like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, you will find a ton of pressure cookers that will work fine with your flat top stove. You'll just need to do a little research by reading the box. And if you aren't sure, usually there is a helpful person there to either help you or open up the box and get the instructions out for you. :-)
Typically, the cheapo Wally World ones are not going to have a flat bottom and are not designed for this type of range. They are usually designed for the old fashioned electric coil ranges or a gas range.
I have two ranges at home, one gas and the other ceramic. Whenever I purchase a new piece of cookware, I always make sure it will be compatible with both.
You are more likely to have a concave bottom (The kind the bows in) as opposed to a convex bottom. (The kind that bows outwards.) Most likey won't hurt your ceramic top range.
So is it safe? Most likely. Is it effective? Most likely not. Run out and spend a little at a good kitchen store and you will be alot happier. Not to mention, its great for cooking applications. ;-)

That sounds about right. It is small and light enough not to damage the ceramic top but the lack of contact will make it inefficient. I bet you can crank the burner and it will get up to pressure. It will just take longer. Seems safe enough to go ahead and test it out.
